Do you guys think that the league will be more wide open? Hopefully more complete teams like the Jets are able to compete and there won't be just teams with special QB play in the finals.

relatively..

with or without brady & manning, the league will still 35-28 type games.. we'll just have a new handful of QB's that always seem to get the benefit of the doubt..

hopefully petty will be one of those guys for the next 10+ year's for us..

& yes, a jet QB getting the benefit of the doubt sounds like a oxymoron but who knows going forward..

Yep. Agree 100%

The NFL has stacked the deck to protect, and market elite QB's. Please let Petty fall into that category

Everything is cyclical. Montana was replaced by young, Elway, Marino, Aikman retire. Favre retires, and Manning and Brady Come along. Then you get eli, big Ben, Aaron Rodgers. Now there's luck, cam,and Russell Wilson.

Many guys I left out, but there's always someone else coming.

I also believe that if the cheatahs can get their oline back to what it used to be, then bradys replacement unless he is a bust , will still do well. Of course that's a big if, since the oline coach that had been their since before belichick retired a couple years back and they just fired his replacement. If they can't fix that the end of the evil empire may be in sight and I'm hoping it happens with brady still here. Cheaters were not good this year and benifited from a very friendly schedule as did we.
Think on this too. the cheatahs won their first 3 suberbowls with a totally different style of play. defense won those games and even last years. all the years when they scored 50 points every week produced no superbowl wins.
the first 3 superbowls they were caught taping and clearly that played a part in their winning. Their 4th win, again they were caught cheating, maybe the deflated balls didn't play as big a role as the videotaping but still. Caught cheating. I, for one don't believe the ever stopped with the video thing. the league only destroyed 2 of their tapes and they had many many more then that. Why would they quit? But I digress.

I have always loved watching Peyton play. He was never surrounded with the players that brady was and still won a ton of games. Many including myself , knocked him for not winning in the playoffs but I apologize. He has now beaten brady in 3 straight AFC championship games. The past 2 years he may not be the same but give him credit for adapting to a system totally against what he has always done. Many would have had a hard time with it.

to answer your question. I think there will always be a few qb's that step up above and beyond the pack so I don't think things change much. No matter how good you are, there is always someone better. And yes, lets hope our qb is one of those next elite ones.

in the mean time lets at least make bradys last few years miserable

I don't know, but I'd much rather see the Jets find and develop one of those guys you mention so we can sit at the top for a while. And here's the thing, as we all witnessed last Sunday, Tom Brady is very beatable. The Broncos blew up the NE OL and beat the shit out of Brady. NO ONE is going to tell me that the Jets can't do the very same thing.

So really I disagree with the whole premise. Who cares if NE has Tom Brady? He can be beaten. We just need a confident and competent HC. Rex Ryan was that for a while and he beat Tom Brady is his own house. I hope Todd Bowles can instill that kind of confidence in the players. Not so sure about that, but I hope.

So far Bowles is 50/50 beating the Pats..... Rex dreams for that kind of winning percentage against them.

Well, actually at the end of the 2009 season, also Ryans rookie year as HC, his record against the Pats was 1-1. He also went 2-1 in the play-offs

So i guess he fulfilled his dream :)

The playoff win, I believe was after the 2010 season

After his 9-7 2009 season (one game worse than the record Todd Bowles achieved in his rookie season) the Jets played the Bengals and the Chargers before getting beaten in the second half by Peyton at Indy

I think you misunderstood me. Yes the play off win against the Pats was 2010 I believe. In 2009 Ryan's team beat the Pats at home 16-9.

They later went 2-1 in the play offs. perhaps I didn't word it clearly.

The Jets playoff win against the Patsies was early 2011. January.
