O'Malley, of course, knew better than anyone that his Atlantic/Flatbush Stadium proposal was a fraud that never had the slightest chance of being approved by anyone from Moses to Eisenhower. The Downtown Brooklyn neighborhood surrounding Atlantic/Flatbush was already far too oversaturated with both vehicular and pedestrian traffic to have the slightest hope of absorbing another 50,000 fans entering or exiting during PM rush hours. The sole reason for the move was O'Malley's unchecked greed for the 300 acres of primo land in Chavez Ravine, adjacent to downtown LA during their postwar real estate boom, that made him a Southern California real estate baron.
