Backup To Rodgers

Words are written as to the all out effort the Jets have put into the team for this coming season. Except.........for Rodgers' backup.
It appears to be Zach. If God forbid, Rodgers gets injured, Zach will (carry?) the team. Second most important position to the QB? His backup.
I hope it's not an ego thing with JD by picking Zach second overall and he is on the cusp of a bust and still a Jet.

The pressure falls squarely on the health and stability of the OL. We knew this from the day of the trade and hasn't changed. In addition, the ones who groomed our backup are no longer here. I posted two years ago that the loss of Knapp was devastating to the franchise. The delay by Saleh to bring in an experienced offensive coach (finally done this year) did our previous starter a disservice.

It's obvious the staff is against demoting Zach to third string by bringing in a serviceable backup. It brings up an interesting dilemma. Does the backup brought in inherit the starting job after Rodgers departure? Does the team hit the reset button and draft another rookie right after an expected playoff run. Talk about stability. This was always about sustaining success. The core of this team is still young, not used to being a winner in the pros.

I don't know about the rest of the fans but if the OL gets hit hard with injuries, none of this will really matter. So they better keep Rodgers upright and complement him with a good run game so he doesn't have to carry the team.
