Baker Mayfield Traded to Carolina

The fact of whether or not Sam can be anything more than a decent back up I’m not sure about. I’ll believe it when I see it but I do agree he should be asking to get out of Carolina no doubt.

Unless he of course has that much confidence in himself that he can beat out Baker and keep the job, PERIOD!!!

I don’t think he can do that either but maybe he can.

you know... i never thought about that; Sammy vs. Baker as a straight up QB Competition.
my $$$ is on Sam, but only because Baker forces Sam out of his comfort zone.

once Sam stops thinking and starts playing, he has streaks of being really good.
Baker's in your grill style might force Sam into a grudge match.

Baker was graded as one of the worst 4th quarter QB’s in the NFL. Crunch time, didn’t get it done. Despite having no excuses with weapons and a defense behind him.

It really is amazing just how wrong the predictions were on that draft class. Darnold and Rosen were so overhyped. Baker was the late riser. Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson were widely predicted to be behind the other three. Wrong.

You know, I truly wish I could get in touch with this Carolina Panthers asshole on YouTube who was riding me about the initially Sam Darnold trade last year. He claimed that Darnold was going to be a beast for them and he only sucked for three years because he was a Jet.

We went back and forth for about a week or so before the Panthers vs. Jets game and after they beat us, he was really on his high horse. Telling me to, “Ice up son” The WR Steve Smith famous quote. Which I thought was pretty catchy and funny but it frustrated me just the same because Darnold did play a pretty decent game against us.

I told him the shit wouldn’t last long and he would regret it and here we are. Darnold didn’t even make it through the season with them as a starter and now he has Baker Mayfield to deal with. Not much of a difference but he won’t beat out Mayfield for the job. Man I just wish I could find dude again. Boy how the tides have turned. Lol!!!

hindsight is 20/20; that is a certainty.

IMO, Baker does get a bad rap. it is true that Baker had weapons and a great OLine on paper to go with a good DLine. He also put up very respectable numbers too.

but if you watch a good deal of Browns games (my kid's buddy comes over to watch them so i do), it is baffling that Chubb and Hunt aren't running 15 to 20 times each. their games shouldn't be in his hands at the end, but it normally was because of the way it was called offensively at the beginning.

* think of it this way... if Rex Ryan were the coach, with those backs, Oline, and DLine, and applied his 2009-10 blue print, we might be talking about the Browns in a SB- that isn't far fetched.

Allen and Lamar were lucky to go where they went to. Allen was allowed to be athletic while the O was built around him and he progressed as a passer. and Lamar literally had an offense made around his talents. put either in situations where their management threw them to the wolves or forced them to be under "the QB guru of the day", and they might be Darnold and Rosen today.

If you look at the qb ratings last season and probably the last 5 seasons for that matter, the qbs are ordered as follows:

  1. Elite qbs
  2. Very good qbs
  3. QBs who are not good enough to play for the Jets according to Jets fans
  4. QBs who perhaps should be second string.
  5. Former and current Jets qbs.
Just to give you a little insight on Baker getting a bad rap.
