Bears receiver Allen Robinson said last week that “everything” was on the table regarding his future. It’s unclear whether “everything” in his mind included the Bears’ using the franchise tag on him and then trying to trade him.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports Robinson’s representation has not talked to the team about a long-term deal since September. Robinson is scheduled to hit free agency next month.

“That would certainly seem to bring the [franchise] tag into play,” Pelissero said. “Whether it is the Bears to try to do an extension, whether it is setting up Robinson to play on the tag, or maybe even a tag-and-trade scenario.”

Robinson had 102 catches for 1,250 yards and six touchdowns this season, and he made 255 catches for 3,151 yards and 17 touchdowns over three seasons in Chicago.

The franchise tag window opens next Tuesday and runs through March 9.

Raises a bunch of questions. If they trade for Wentz, and apparently it's between them and the Colts for his services, wouldn't you want a great WR for him to throw to? Is their cap situation that bad that they can't afford both players? If the cap situation is that bad, how could they afford the tag $$ salary? How would a sign and trade impact the Bears' cap #? If the trade is completed before cut-off date, does it impact cap at all?

Not trading for ARob or any player other than Lattimore or Watson at a bargain.

He has been a WR for Mitch Trubisky, so we still don't know what he can do with a catchable ball.

Tag him and hope the rest of the NFL shove it up their ass by not inquiring to trade for him. Let them have to sweat out that cap crunch.
Might be too many other good WRers on the market for the Bears to cash in.
If that’s their goal.
