And the reason that he didn't eat the last chip was that he's cutting back and trying to get into football shape.
You know, maybe he mis-heard Saleh when Saleh told him to get into football shape and instead tried to get into the shape of a football. And the reason that he didn't eat the last chip was that he's cutting back and trying to get into football shape.
My point is neither is associated with the team, and probably have as much inside info as you and me. I'll go with what GMF has been saying, because he has actually been in the facility. We'll find out soon enough who has the better info.I actually heard that Dan Graziano and Greeny discussed on on ESPN insiders I tried to copy and paste the article ….. but couldn’t do it
Recent pictures of him were posted in various media outlets from off-season gym workouts to mandated practices. He is a big man yes; but not 400 lbs. If he still moves the way he did, he will possibly shine. You need a cab to get around him.Heard Saleh and company aren’t happy with Becton and his weight. Rumor were he was pushing 400 at mini camp. If he isn’t happy at RT, then he needs to get serious and lose some weight. IMO, he doesn’t deserve a shot at LT if he isn’t disciplined enough to come in in shape. At this point, I would look to Reiff as a signing candidate and trade Becton for whatever you can get. It seems pretty obvious that he either doesn’t want to be here, or football is not a top priority. Now I realize that he may have put on some muscle at Duke’s training facility, but weight wise he may be the same as he was at seasons end, which isn’t a ringing endorsement for Duke ….. and severely limits Bectons chances to be a fixture at OL week in and week out
if becton looked fit at his presser (regardless of the t shirt) none of this stuff would have gotten any traction.. actually quite the opposite would have happened.. he would have been showered with praise for looking the part on all forms of jet social media.. hell, i would be doing the same thing here..My point is neither is associated with the team, and probably have as much inside info as you and me. Ain't that the truthBecton can be unhappy about it all he wants. If he has put himself into this situation, he has nobody to blame but himself.
ConcurLook you worry too much about Becton who cares if it is LT or RT whoever you put up against him Becton will eat their lunch......In fact dinner too

Does anyone have an opinion about the bolded? Is it financially the same to be a star RT as it is to be a decent LT? Or are we just going to ignore the question and continue to regurgitate points from previous threads?
you hit a lot of nails right on head in this post..I think what gets lost in the discussion is the fact that Fant might play LT for a year or two, because it's in the team's best interest not for him to play RT, with a real possibility that Becton could be the best LT on the team... meaning, Becton might be the best RT & LT too; because Fant is only superior at LT.
if that's the case, then Becton's 5th year option and/or extension (1.) can be as a dominant RT but (2.) also to take over the helm at LT too; him playing both spots in his tenure is a distinct possibility, because Fant is a quality T already on the roster who plays best at LT, and JD will likely move him before his wheels fall off.
** even if JD inks Fant for another of his patented 3 year (all guarantees up front) deals, Fant at LT for us might be over by the end of Becton's rookie deal.
the moral of the story for #77 is "work your ass off to be as dominant as you can be", because either the Jets or someone else will back an armored truck up at contract time... no matter what side you play.
It didn't get lost. The thought has crossed my mind also. Some brief time ago, @gmf1369 posted that he heard that Becton's floor is 350 lbs. For me, that's a bit too heavy for LT. So I consider his natural position to be RT. And no, my opinion didn't have anything to do with the 400 lb rumors. But I digress. I want Becton to play below 340 and I don't think that'll happen. But yes, if he is going to win out at LT, then Fant has no place on this team because he doesn't have the build for RT. If Becton is to win out at LT, then it's probably best for the Jets and for Fant if they part ways. Mitchell can be groomed into a backup for LT which is probably his best fit.I think what gets lost in the discussion is the fact that Fant might play LT for a year or two, because it's in the team's best interest not for him to play RT, with a real possibility that Becton could be the best LT on the team... meaning, Becton might be the best RT & LT too; because Fant is only superior at LT.

The bolded is interesting. I wonder if Becton would do that.my reply to you was a long winded way to say it doesn't matter which side he plays on in terms of money; which i think was your point too... "if he dominates, he will make a ton of money regardless of the side".
1.) i do agree that if he beats Fant out, and plays LT, then Fant is gone.
2.) i don't know that i agree that there has to be an ideal weight for LT...if the athleticism is ample. IMO, that isn't true for a RT; you're right, there is a proto-type for RT.
a.) lighter guys at LT are quicker to fend off rushers.
b.) taller, heavier guys can use length and girth to the same end making them go the long circuitous route to the QB..
c.) but a guy like Becton will add the usual punishing bruiser found at RT on the left too... better for the running game.
Fant doesn't have to go if he loses the competition. Becton just has to agree to play RT even if he wins the right to play LT.
