BUT, if by chance, we did beat the Patsies? Can you imagine how BIG that will be for this team?

Honestly, when was the last time the Jets actually beat a team with a winning record? It's been a long time that I recall...Sometime in 2013 I believe.

Beating the Patsies not only confirms that we beat a team with a winning record, it also confirms that we beat last years SB champs.

A team that I believe will go UNDEFEATED this season.

If the Jets beat them, it would be HUGE on so many levels.

Nov 2014 Jets beat the 11-5 Steelers. Was the last time the Jets bet a winning team.

Not that it matters. The 2014 Jets were a very bad team, with almost no talent. They spent a few dollars, in the off season. Actually got some DB's. And a major improvement at QB.

Rex is gone, new coach, new GM new attitude.

As far at the turn overs go. The Jets are ranked 5th in the give away, take away with a +5

The Pats are ranked 7th with a +3. The #1 is a +6. Advantage Jets. The argument certainly can be made that if that trend continues, the Jets win.

This is a much improved team over the one that was out there last year, and with that, over the last 4 meetings between them, the Pats are 3-1. By a whooping total of 3 points.

Of course this is an important game. It's a division rival. The fact that they won the Super bowl, that they shouldn't have been in , has no impact on the game at all.

It would be very nice to win this game, but the hype machine is gone. Bowles is right. Winning this game won't make the season, and losing won't break it.

The Jets did not beat the 11-5 Steelers. They could not have beaten them when they were 11-5. That would imply they beat them in the playoffs. Not possible. What was their actual record when the Jets beat them and that will tell the whole truth?

Also, the Jets have lost NOT lost 3 games by a total of 3 points to the Patsies in their last 4. That's impossible.

Last season, they lost BOTH of their games against the Patsies by a total of 3 points. So the Patsies are 3-1 against the Jets, then they HAD to have beaten the Jets by MORE than 3 one point victories.

You're also bragging about what Rex Ryan did with the Jets team. I thought everyone on this site hated Rex Ryan? But when it benefits your argument, you'll use Rex Ryan highlights?

This is also NOT Rex Ryan's team. This is Todd Bowles team. A team with a rookie Head Coach.

Your argument is not compelling to me at all as it is full of half truths.

At the time the Jets beat them the Steelers record was 6-3. So I guess that tells the whole story, right? End of argument.

In 2013 the Jets won one game by 3 points and lost one by 3 points. Total sum 0. In 2014 Pats won one game by 2, other game by 1. Total sum, Pats won 3 out of the last 4 by a total sum of 3 points.

You are once again mistaken with your statement of "You're also bragging about what Rex Ryan did with the Jets team. I thought everyone on this site hated Rex Ryan? But when it benefits your argument, you'll use Rex Ryan highlights?"

That is ridiculous. I don't hate Rex at all. I have said many times on here that I liked Rex, and thought his time here was very exciting. His act got old, and it was time for him to go. Period.

Half truths? Nothing you have said in this exchange is true.

I'm also done with it. I have no idea how this game will come out, but I know that the facts do strongly indicate that this should be a very good game.

Like I said I'm done, carry on

For me Sunday's game against the Pats is what will tell me where the Jets stand. They don't even have to beat them. If they can hang in there against them and keep it close, I'll be pretty sure they are playoff bound. If the Jets get blown out, I'll know the success to this point has been largely a mirage. And if they win, well, I'll know they're for real. J-E-T-S, Jets! Jets! Jets!

I'll believe when I look at the scoreboard at the end of the game and the Jets have more points than the Pats. I'm sick and tired of "near misses" and "Moral Victories" against those bastages.

A close up shot of Giselle crying would be nice, too. (You can fill in your own reason for that)

I know it sounds like I'm getting worked up, but that's really not true.

I just hate how "common sense" loses out to PC regurgitation. If it's so obvious this game means more, why did he go out of his way to imply it doesn't? And why are we applauding him for it? Personally I would have loved a respectful, dignified response that still would have shown how much this game means to the head coach of my football team, and I have no doubt Bowles could have pulled that off. Instead I have to rationalize why it shouldn't mean more to him, even though it should, and probably does, but we have to assume, because he's not allowed to say, but if you listen to his breathing patterns you can infer . . .

I guess it's more a condemnation of society than Bowles himself - I just think it's ridiculous . . .

OCC... read between the lines ... his message to us and the media is one thing... behind closed doors the message is this is the SB champs a statement game and the what kind of team are you? If you do not thnk that is the message..then read this ...

I get it - I do. I just prefer when a coach speaks his mind instead of useless comments no one believes anyway. Means NOTHING in my overall assessment of the guy and look forward to him being here a long time . . .

Dude, that was spot on!
I keep checking myself on how new this whole system is and try not to get too ahead of myself on expectations,... nice breakdown to put things in check!

What does it take for HYATT™ to gain credibility around here?
He already told y'all back in August that if Fitzpatrick is the starter, (which he ALSO predicted would come to pass by Week 1, although the way it came about was not what HYATT™ envisioned), that the Jets would go deep into the playoffs.

HYATT™ stopped short of declaring SB or bust, but that's what he had in mind all along. (Subtle hints referring to the 2010 season where HYATT™ had predicted a GBP v NJJ Super Bowl in August already. Came within 6 points of that happening.)

100% Packers - it's in the blood and can't be cured.

93.75% Jets - only the Packers and the po' underdog Jags can get a leg up in HYATT™'s fandom.

Yes, the Jets are #3 in the hierarchy, but it's a fixed #3.
Whichever team is currently the worst underdog in the NFL moves into and out of #2, as time dictates.
Right now, and for a number of years, it's been JAX, but it used to be the 'Aints, AZ before them, and before that it was SEA.
The Jets have jockeyed for #2 from time to time too.

DET is a special case, they are ALWAYS finding a soft spot on HYATT™'s sympathy wagon - even on Packers gamedays.
Not enough to root for over the Packers, JAX, or the Jets, but over 50 years of the Bobby Layne curse does that & it'll do it to you too, once you learn about it.

Ineligible teams:
CHI
DAL
NEP - until Hoodie retires
Phish

You have to understand something about HYATT™
He is and always was a fan of the game of professional, (not college), American rules football.
The game comes before ANY team - even the Packers - which is WHY HYATT™ is currently so disillusioned with all the cheating & game-fixing that is ruining my beloved sport.
