Don't worry this will not affect the reg posters much. We have recently learned that the name nyjetsfanatics is currently owned by someone else. Elias, MV, I discussed it and we felt in order to brand our name and make t-shirts, bumper stickers, and other stuff eventually we need a new name. Instead of just changing it ourselves we are putting a poll up to see what name you guys think would be appropriate for our board.

I will also leave a spot where we will take your ideas if you do not see one you like and have your own please feel free to post in the thread.

Thank guys we are real proud how the board is going so far can't wait to see what it looks like during football season. Also remember you can PM either one of us at anytime if you see something or want something added to the site as always we are here for you.

Big Change coming to the Board

We recently discovered nyjetsfanatics is owned by someone, so in order to brand our board we need to make a name change. This should not affect the reg posters in a huge way we the admins will take care of everything. As always though we value your opinion and ask that you look at this list and pick your 5 favs and post them the winning 5 we will have a poll to decide on our new name. Keep in mind we want to make t-shirts, bumper stickers,and possibly other stuff.

We also would like you to know Elias,MV, and I are very proud of the board at the moment and thanks to everyone who is a member we proved to scout and JI that a transition can happen if it is done the right way.

Always remember we value your opinions so at anytime if you see or what something on the board feel free to PM Elias,MV, or Me Thank you

Not sure if we have a winner there guys. Not a big fan of any of them. Do like jetsflow but it's a weak list so please do give your suggestions.

If the 'owner' of said name gave a damn about it they would have already registered the .com .net. .org. .co .tv .co.uk .asia .cn .anything else I missed

I am no lawyer, but, IF you own (as you do) the domain name, how does having a T-shirt with www.nyjetsfanatics.com get in the way of the other guys copyright? He doesn't 'own' www.nyjetsfanatics.com?

Is he a Patriots fan?

No he is just parking the name but it is owned I checked patriotsfanatics too and that is owned but just being parked same guy prob bought all teams in case someone wanted it

Renegade, E, MV; I don't understand the basics here.

You register a domain name..you pay $$ and its your property...done (circa 24 hours after payment the name is propagated down the DNS channel to wherever you point it)

You register a domain name, as above, and then 'park it'. Parking simply means you will use it later. Hell IBM have a gazillion 'parked' domains, but try BUYING one of them....you can't as the domain name is OWNED buy the purchaser and stays their property UNTIL they don't renew it. They don't have to use it, they park it or they decide to put a web site on it.

How can a guy own it and park it then YOU buy it????

In my (simple) way of looking at this...:

You bought the domain name http://nyjetsfanatics.com
Therefore you own it legally (internationally)

Tell him to sod off

I'd like an NYJetsFanatics.com T shirt, #74 please, size M and can you ship to China :)

You are right. No one has the name, we own this domain but we are trying to avoid future headaches that may/may not come our way because of trademark infringement.

We are infringing on the NY Jets trademark. Although I serious doubt any lawsuit would come our way from this because it's not like we are competing with them but instead promoting their brand. Forgot what it is called but it is all in good faith.

We are infringing on the Fanatics trademark. The sports apparel company. This could probably be a potential threat. Doubt it also but why deal with the headache.

We thought this would be a good team building exercise also. This is your board as much as ours. Like Nick said:
