Bernie's early years were mixed, but he was seen as an innovator. Bill's early foray into head coaching was mixed, but he was seen a defensive genius. Like Bernie, Bill got caught early, was scrutinized a little, but got through it.
But most intriguing is that Bernie claimed an average of 12% returns -- no matter what the market did. Bill wins 12 games a year and it doesn't matter who's playing for him. He even won 11 games with Matt Cassel.
