It can also be really bad. Honestly, I think the Darron Lee leaves us open to suck in a big way. This team needed an every down player for this season. Instead, they got a two down, situational, sawed off, little twerp to defend the wheel route.
Only Jets fans could be gullible to believe Darron Lee is going to play inside, outside, and be responsible for covering Gronk. That is the dumbest sh*t I have ever heard.
If Bowles switches the defense to a 4-3, then I can see the Lee pick. In a 3-4, it reeks on panic on the part of Mac. He completely f*cked up the draft, he panicked, and the Jets ended up with Darron Lee.
They should basically make Darron Lee a Safety. If they did that, Bowles could be as dumb and stubborn as he likes and stay in a 3-4. At least then Darron Lee will be useful......

I believe you will be proven wrong on the Lee pick, and this defense will not be really bad because of any one particular rookie, good or bad. A little extreme don't you think?
Agreed Lee was not a reach... Lee was the target... He is exactly the type of player Bowles needs to make his Defense work..... Now will Lee fulfill the potential his talent has to be the guy Bowles envisioned.... we will see but there was no panic in selecting him..... He ran a good D in AZ and he wanted Bucchanon and everyone criticized him for putting a 6'1" 211 lbs guy at inside LB at the NFL.... Bowles tried to tell people he had a plan for him... No one listened accept for Bruce Arians..... Once he unleasehed Bucchanon in his scheme everyone said oh what a great find this Bucchanon kid was...... Lee has all the tools and talent to be as good if not better than Bucchanon... Bowles saw that and went for it.... I'll trust Bowles and and this Front office over any poster in this forum.... and definitely will trust them over the posters that seem to hate every move we make.....

I find it rather conspicuous that while you are so willing to argue that Darron Lee is wonderful and I'm all wet, none of you have gone near the specific statement of Lee covering Gronkowski????? So why not? If you have such confidence in him and obviously over anything I have to say, then why not put that confidence out there?
And the idea that Lee was the target is nonsense. Everyone, including Mac in his predraft press conference mentioned OL as a potential target. Then, in the actual draft Mac made an attempt to trade up and grab Laremy Tunsil. So once again I say the idea that Lee was the target all along is a crock of sh*t. Mac SETTLED for Darron Lee after everyone of his other more grand plans went by the way side.
Darron Lee is nothing more than a two down player. ANY time a pulling Guard shakes loose and engages Lee, he will get launched and owned. The 2nd preseason game against the Redskins serving as proof. Brandon Sherff tossed Lee like dirty laundry about 10 feet. '

We'll see about Lee. Unlike Ryan who was notorious for forcing square pegs into round holes, I have faith that this coaching staff understands a players strengths and weaknesses and will use them accordingly. We have two great examples of this currently in our defensive backfield, Pryor and Allen. Ryan couldn't have misused players any more egregiously than these two. We haven't yet seen what TB will do with Allen, but I'm guessing he won't be playing CB.
I find some posters rather odd.... Anyway, I agree with Old#15 I don't think Lee will be forces to play or do something he can't... Bowles puts players in positions to play to their strengths.... Was Lee drafted to cover Gronk..... In short No....... But that doesn't mean in certain situations he won't be. He very well might be, at times.... But he was not drafted to primarily cover TE's not even close and if you think he was you have no clue how Bowles runs his scheme and the point of drafting Lee.
great great great post . If you believe in TB like I do he will use the right players at the right times. AS far as the 4-3 I would be happy but in TB we trust

Unreal how Jets fans can't even see two feet in of there face. Rex Ryan did what he had to do given a virtually depleted roster. That depleted roster was John Idzik's doing, NOT Rex Ryan. Did Ryan cut Dmitri Patterson during TC and never bother to replace him? Did Rex Ryan want Darrelle Revis when he became available? Or did John Idzik say absolutely no way, allowing him to sign with our hated rivals????
20-20 vision would serve you well instead of the nonsense you are shoveling.....

It makes no sense at all. Having a Safety playing linebacker?! For crying out f*cking loud, why didn't he just take a Safety already on the team and coach him to play linebacker. This is a fundamental FLAW in dingbat Bowles strategy (if you can call it that). It WILL be exposed in short order.
And just watch Gronk look Olympian when that little sh*t Verne Troyer tries to cover him.......
Yet it works so perfectly in his system with Deon Buchanan in AZ....
