Two days after arriving in Buffalo for an official visit with the Bills, former Jets receiver Percy Harvin has come to terms on a one-year contract to play there, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Terms were not disclosed.
Harvin was essentially a half-season rental for the Jets, who got him from the Seahawks in a trade last October. But Harvin pretty much became expendable this week after the Jets' traded with the Bears for Brandon Marshall, a move that became official on Tuesday, the first day of the league year.
The Jets netted a savings of $2.8 million in salary-cap space by trading for Marshall and releasing Harvin. They've been a bit busy with that money this week. The Jets also now have to give the Seahawks a sixth-round pick instead of a fourth-rounder as a condition of last year's trade.
The Patriots were reportedly in the mix for Harvin if he and the Bills couldn't come to terms. With the Bills, Harvin will be reunited with ex-Jets head coach Rex Ryan, wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal, and much of the rest of last year's Jets staff. The Bills will also be Harvin's fourth team in as many seasons.
