I should have started a new thread. Instead, I posted it in the Buffalo game thread.
This has to be the beginning of the end. I thought Rex would have more than 2 seasons in Buffalo, but when you only go .500 in the first season, and the second projects worse, it comes to a head.
He may be gone by late December.

I've been reading posts on one of the buffalo bills fan forums. It's so depressing there. A Rex-led team has sucked the life out of that fan base. They fired Schwartz who had a top defense and replaced him with Rex who wasn't nearly as good. What they needed was an offensive coach instead of Rex. Bad start for Pegula up there.
Terrible start. I thought it was a bad fit from the start.
Rex is a good guy and a solid DC.
But he only works well as a HC in a very specific situation. He needs to take over a team that is on the verge, where his confidence in them will pay off. Ideally, it's a team that is just coming off a harsh disciplinarian HC. The problem is, teams that are on the verge of doing something special don't often have HC openings. You need a team that is good, but underachieves some year because the locker room turns on the strict coach. That's the kind of situation where Rex can step in and do very well.
Firing Rex would be a mistake, who would take that job at an average 2 years backing of HC? No good smart HC. Bills Defense put points on the board & Offense was very lucky to put up that much points in a short time on the field. Offensive Cord. should have more ball control in a complete game than last night & putting Bills Defense on the field for 40 mins. is unacceptable by any Offense. Bills Defense played almost the entire game & looked tired while the OC & Offense drinking gaterade taking a nice game break.
I think this might guarantee Rex the whole season. With Roman gone, and Rob would never stick around if Rex was canned in-season, the cupboard would be pretty bare in terms of interim HCs.
The Jets going 8 for 13 on third down doesn't bode well for Ryans defense.
The distancing has begun, firing the offensive coordinator denotes that it's the offense that is failing. It cannot be the defense, Rex Ryan defenses are always great.
So what the Jets had almost 500 yards of offense and went up and down the field on his defense. Everyone look over here, it's the offense see, I fixed the problem with my team, I fired the offensive coordinator.
Just like when he was with the Jets, he was here 6 seasons and had three offensive coordinators. Wait, it's not the coordinator, it's the players the GM is getting me. He went through two of those while with the Jets. He also had two different D coordinators.

The defense gets gashed for 500 Yards of total offense, nearly three 100 Yards receivers and a 100 Yards rusher, and 37 Points which you might expect with those kinds of numbers, and their offense scored a very respectable 24 Points off some real explosion plays, with an injured Sammy Watkins probably playing at less than 50%, and its the offensive coordinator (not a defensive coach) who gets fired?

I have to give him credit... he cashed in with us and now the Bills. He has never been anything other than a DC who said the right things to fool Woody and us. And now the Bills but like most blowhards / fakes it only takes time before reality sets in and he is exposed. To bad they didn't fire him.
i was a huge fan of Rex but I disagree with you on the point that he can be a good head coach on any team even if they are emerging. Rex never learned from his mistakes. He took the same old crappy coaching staff with him to Buffalo, insists on running an offense based on the out-dated ground and point philosophy. Finally, and worst of all for him, the teams have figured out his defenses. I don't think he's had a good defensive game since 2010. Yes his personnel wasn't as good but his blitzing philosophy just doesn't work anymore in an era where quick releases are kick.
To to be honest, the best thing about Bowles coming to NY is that he brought Gailey with him. Seeing us throw the ball is a great thing to see. Not only throwing it but having some well designed plays.
Rex Ryan will be canned by the end of this season. The Bills aren't finishing better than 8-8. And more likely, it'll be below .500, and I can't imagine that being sufficient for the front office.

Well, it has to start somewhere...........And really the question that it begs is so what do you think of the JETS defense these days???? The Jets D is total SH*T right now. They are playing nothing short of atrocious.
But honestly, both sides of the ball looked awful Thursday, and Rex has to start somewhere. I can, and honestly YOU can as well if your being honest, see the defense getting better. The Bills have quite possibly the best defensive guru in the game working for them.
The offense on the other hand, just looks lost. Their offense needs a LOT more talent than what they have.....
At the end of the season is when the whole thing should be blown up if necessary...........

I don't get firing the OC just 2 games into a season. If he was on that shaky ground, he should have been replaced during the off-season.
Greg Ronan wasn't fired by rex,it was ownership. It's a mess in Buffalo and it's not Rex's fault this time.
These owners just became rich recently and bought half of Buffalo. They know nothing about football. Reports are out that the owners had a secret meeting with the offensive players behind the coaches backs,to ask players why they suck. Then suddenly Roman is fired, it's insanity.
