Bowles: Bryce Petty Will Start the Last 4 Games

At this point in time Petty is the only reason to watch. The problem is he has very little talent around him. Lets hope the team rallies around him and he gets valuable reps that will show whether he can be the starter for this team. I don't think 4 games is a big enough sample size and Bowles is at fault for waiting so long.

Brandon Marshall, Quincy Enunwa, ASJ, Matt Forte, Bilal Powell. That's all a lot of talent. And the O-line wasn't bad last night.
If Petty fails, it's because of Petty.
I'm real curious to see who gets singled out for not wanting to play. I'm hoping to see guys like SRichardson, Revis, Skrine and Gilchrist either inactive or their asses glued to the bench. As much as I like David Harris, he was completely invisible the entire game. There has to be something going on behind the scenes with this defense to be this ineffective with this much talent. People can argue all they want about the talent being overrated, but I honestly don't think that is the case, particularly with the DL. I didn't expect the offense to be the reason that we would be at least competitive this season. I expected the defense and was hoping for an improvement in STs to get us back to 10-6/9-7. Wow, was I dreaming! The STs have been very disappointing, but never did I expect the defense to be this dysfunctional. All I can guess is that the locker room is a mess, with no leadership or accountability. Guys like SRichardson, who should be playing his ass off for a contract, played like he was in Honolulu. Where is the veteran leader who cares enough to get in his face? I have been a fan since the late 60's and never can I remember a team that quit like this one. It's one thing to not have enough talent and suck, and quite another to not care or put forth the effort. Disgusting.

players like Breno Jokimini needs to be cut now to open the door for Qvale and Shell to get much needed reps... anyone could do better than he did last night...
place Mangold and any other player that aren't likely to see the field in the next three weeks on injured reserve... then from our own practice or poach from practice squad's around the league bring prospects in that could be a part of our team moving forward...
any roster adjustment will be a positive one and the only way to salvage the debacle of this season...

Would like to see some of our practice squad players get live reps to develop... Would like to see our Head of Scouting poach some potential er General Manager...
We are in need of help at two destinations, secondary and offensive line time to find or fix the situation...

These are all the moves I would do, or try to to salvage any respect from Jets nation and show competent awareness that they botched this season...
- Deon Simon showed he wants it, so give him a go for the remainder of the season to let him prove his worth...
- Leonard Williams was the only one that showed up with a fire in his belly last night... Make him starter for remainder of the season...
- Mo & Sheldon were less enthused to be on the field... The door is open to place Mo on IR, but we would have to either motivate Sheldon or bench him... Catapano would be the likely person to take over, he is playing for a new contract...
- With Mauldin sidelined with an ankle injury we could take a real look at Freddie Bishop for the last four games, give him much needed live reps...
- I agree on David Harris was invisible for the majority of the game, unless he is hampered by an injury we are stuck with him on the roster, but Stanford looked to sustain an injury and Bruce Carter is currently injured so opens the door to bring back maybe Taiwan Jones whom seemed like he wanted to be here...
- In the secondary, Pryor with a concussion don't know the protocol... Now Antonio Allen also with a concussion if anyway we can move them to IR, and bring up both Ronald Martin and Doug Middleton would like to see if there is any potential long term with either of them...
- Marcus Williams should of been placed on IR weeks ago, there is developmental prospects on our roster but there are prospects from other teams that we could of brought in and should of as this position is been in the toilet from day one...
- Offensively like I stated release Fitz now instead of walking away from him post season...
- ASJ, Tomlinson and Bostick are trying got to give them credit for that but c'mon this position is irrelevant in Gailey's game plan...
- With Jalin Marshall sidelined and Jeremy Ross doing everything to get cut we need to re-evaluate this position... Brandon Marshall at times looked like he bought in but the rest time looked like he packed it in...
- Matt Forte is on the record stating the only reason he chose to come to the Jets was to play alongside Fitz, now that we are likely done with Fitz will Forte pack it in? Forte also dealing with an injury is it enough to move him to IR? If so can we run the last four games with just Powell and Spiller? Could elevate Wilds to the active roster...
- Get rid of three offensive linemen by release and IR to open up much needed roster spots... Mangold clearly re-injuring his injured ankle, is one IR move... The other is Dakota Dozier who was inactive last night, move him to IR... Get rid of Breno and his hot headiness (cut/release) and allow both Brandon Shell and Brent Qvale to split reps at right tackle... With Dozier out, the Jets could sign a prospect or elevate Craig Watts from the psquad...
- It is a long shot for the team to do some of these moves, but to do all of them would take some big cojonas that I don't believe this team has ever had or ever will...

All I want to see is some legitimate progress. Petty does not have to look like Tom Brady after 4 weeks but he will have to settle in and play some ball and start limiting the mistakes. The receivers are more than adequate for him to show progress.
Last night they had him slinging the ball with the score out of hand. After the first score they (coaches and Petty) should have settled in and taken what the defense was willing to give. That is where he needs to improve. Throwing deep into a prevent defense is not a great idea. The deep timing and accuracy will more then likely get better every week but the underneath outlet plays need to also increase. Let's hope he is the guy, not an ideal number of auditions, but if not we can move on and make plans.

I disagree to a certain extent with this statement. Petty doesn't appear to be ready right now. As bad as I wanted him to be, I don't think he is and yesterdays game was a good example of it. TB and Gailey did know what they were talking about on this. Imagine how bad Hack must still be, wow. Petty can show improvement over the next four games and hopefully he does. Right now, he is mainly a one-two look QB that throws to one-two players at most. Accuracy issues and reads on defences. He does have a gun and looks damn good throwing it, I must admit. He's got a long way to go and hopefully he gets there.

We already knew that Petty has a big league arm, but what impressed me most was the touch pass to ASJ for a +10 yard gain. Those are the type of throws that will set-up the secondary for the occasional bombs. I think a lot of the inaccuracies we saw last night was the result of an over anxious young QB looking to make highlight throws into the teeth of a prevent defense. Once he settles into a legitimately balanced game plan, I'm hoping we see a more composed and accurate QB.
I do agree on the Petty fails but the Marshall plan may have worked after WW ll but I don't think he is great & many fans say Enunwa is a star not in my books another drop last night. I don't see the talent on this team now......do I see guys that could be good?????Sure do but as a DC I don't shake in my boots over this cast.......Marshall sucks & is a head case.

I think Petty will fair better than Fitz would have over the next 4 games. Not that, that's saying a lot. But the question is how much better. I think the prep time with the first team will be a huge help. His throws were off last night but that really felt like just being out of synch with the Wr's. Hopefully it is and the reps in practice corrects that. The kid has all the talent. And like a precious poster said. He doesn't have to be Tom Brady but he just needs to show he can manage a game. Control the huddle and not turn the ball over. And small steps each week beyond that is what we need to see. Either way at least after last night teams will know that can't sit on out routes and quick slants with Petty. The playbook will be wide open. So let's all put aside the divisive comments and get behind Petty. If he sucks after the 4 games we can go back to whatever Narrative we want but for now the sooner we find a QB the better. Let's all get behind this kid. No reason not to!!

He probably isn't ready, but he will either show he has some talent or he won't. I don't want him to win any games. I want this franchise to be as humiliated as we fans are right now.
Well WR's actually have to run a route because Petty's ball will get there as opposed to run two yards and turn around for a duck jump ball from Fitz.
