Bowles: 'Ryan Fitzpatrick Is the Starter'

I'm not surprised by this. Bowles is riding Fitz out as long as he can. Yesterday's performance solidified his belief that Fitz gives us the best chance to win. He's not going to bench Fitz after that performance yesterday.
And I say that as a fan who wants to see Petty. But Bryce is going to have to wait until the off season to be the front runner for the starting job. (Unless Fitz completely shits the bed). Fans will get their wish when Fitz isn't re-signed after this season.

NO WAY. I figure with how much of a resounding loss Ryan Fitzpatrick's gamble was, I figure the BEST offer he'll be looking at is veteran minimum...... His 12 million dollar paychecks are gone forever..........
I gotta be honest, as much of a Petty fan as i am, i feel this organization is pulling for Hackenberg to come in next season and really push hard for that starting job.
Granted, it will be interesting what decisions are made during the off season player personel wise...especially at Head coach if the organization ends up at 3-13.
This is what happens when you have your franchise structured the way it is.

Bowles coaches the players.
One doesn't answer to the other, apparently.
They both have a direct line to Woody Johnson.
Bowles doesn't care about 2017, he only cares about winning in 2016.
Apparently he didn't care enoughin the beginning of the season when his team came out uninspired on multiple occasions.
Didn't care enough when his starting QB was throwing the game away, literally,in K.C. Could've made a switch at halftime and maybe pulled out a W. Didn't care enough then about winning.

I would, but would Fitz play for 3 million, and accept being a backup? He gambled on himself and lost this year. If the Jets plan on having a QB competition between Petty and Hackenberg, and keeping Fitz solely as an insurance policy if both Petty and Hackenberg fail, then I'm absolutley OK with that.
He'd be the best backup QB in the NFL. But I have a gut feeling that Fitz is gonna get a better offer from a team like the Browns next year. He'll want a chance to start, and if the Browns draft another developmental QB, it's the perfect situation for him. He'll start one more year while the Trubisky kid holds the clipboard for one year.
Like I've said before, it seems to me TB is doing this strictly to spite what everyone thinks he should do. He's going to do it his way no matter the cost. Guess he figures if I'm going to get fired then I'm going to go out swinging and do it my way. I just wish he would do it his way with Petty or Hack. I'm not even saying or implying he will get fired at season end but what I am saying is he won't be pressured or bullied BY ANYBODY into any decision he doesn't feel isn't right. Not even the owner or GM. I'm questioning if he knows this is the wrong thing to do but doing it anyway, just to spite everyone? Is what it is I guess and seems we're stuck with shitbag Fitzgarbage for the rest of the year!

At this point it's way beyond Bowles. The obvious move is is to start Petty to help evaluate if you have something for next year. Seeing Petty in practice and in a game are two different things. If Neither Bowles, Mac or even Woody doesn't agree that Petty is the move now than we have bigger, long term problems. I thought Mac was a good pick but I'm questioning it now.
Todd Bowles is just trying to get through this season then worry about the change over of the roster... Expect no more Fitz this year, and the possibility of not having players like Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker, Nick Mangold and/or Matt Forte supporting Fitz as the main guy... Turning over to Petty now will break the locker room from those few veterans who are the leaders of the team...
On MNF, don't want to put that pressure on Petty, even tho I believe he is ready... After next week, if we lose on the national stage will open the door for Petty to get the shot to take the job...

50% of this roster is developing and getting the much needed experience to elevate their individual game(s) to grow moving forward... we have talent but the majority of the talent doesn't mesh with the game plan on both sides of the ball and expect those necessary changes will be made this upcoming off season...

Agree, I think we actually have a good foundation now. We are full of young guys with high ceilings who just need to be developed.
