Bowles said Jets are in trade discussions with several teams

But he classified it as "due diligence" and nothing imminent.

Basically he said teams are calling them to do their due diligence, and we are calling teams to do ours.
But I say, where there's smoke there's fire :global (30):

Agreed where there is smoke there is fire.... or where there is a spark a fire can start.

Who knows who is calling for what and where it leads to

what would it take to get a guy like La'el Collins - Richardson? Just asking.

I would think we would get a mid/low pick back in that deal. But id do it. Id also trade amaro and that pick to the 49ers for anthony davis. Make winters our swing guy.

Davis would be RT and Winters stays at RG.

he was suggesting Davis would be RT but La'el Collins would replace Winters at RG making Winters the 6th man...

If we land Anthony Davis, Fitz is gonna throw for over 40+ TD's and open a bakery back there.

When the Jets are this tight lipped regarding a possible up coming move, they get very silent. (see Fitz and Wilk Deals)

This team DESPERATELY needs a RT. If they do not pick up some kind of stopgap at RT, the overall offense is f*cked this season.

The team still needs a TE in the worst way. but I figure Chan Gailey can cover that up somewhat well. But RT???? If they do not get someone decent to play this season, then the offense and Ryan Fitzpatrick will go down in a heap.

Gotta believe they see the same thing we all do and are working to solve the problem. Wish I knew something though.

Your spot on MJ,

This just reaks of 2011 in which we had a very solid team yet our RT position was handled very poorly with Wayne Hunter starting at that spot. Not saying that Qvale or Ijalana dont have potential, but it's evident that with the talent we have on the offense that the FO over looked a position that can hinder what Chan is trying to accomplish. Heck, we all definetly dont want to see Geno in there if FItz goes down.

Gotta believe that management has got to be thinking about some sort of an upgrade via trade of awaiting a RT with legit game time experience to be released by later today.

Yes it very much does feel reminiscent of 2011. It seems to me that Mac and Bowles have not read their Jets history books. Tanny's plan back in 2010 was to draft Vlad Ducasse as the heir apparent to Damien Woody. However, Vlad Ducasse was a disaster from the very second he was picked. When it became apparent that Vlad Ducasse would never be talented enough to play RT, they panicked and put Wayne Hunter in as a stopgap. The rest of the story is far too sad to even mention.

In this case, I am not so willing to blame Mac for not addressing this problem long ago. This is only Mac's 2nd year in town. However, there is some blame that should be handed to Mac for this. Any educated Jets fan knew last season that this team desperately needed a youth infusion along the OL. It was obvious.

Our biggest need, Mac opted to ignore and that to me is a big problem. Especially when you consider he picked a tiny little linebacker that looked overwhelmed playing against 3rd and 4th stringers just the other night. Or when you consider he blew our 2nd round draft choice on 3 or 4 year project.

Both the 1st and 2nd round draft choices will have so very little impact on this season in a good way. Darron Lee might be able to contribute, but at best you're looking at a 2 down, situational and extremely undersized linebacker. Meanwhile, the Jets absolutely needed an every down player out of the draft due to the fact that they did not have any money to spend in FA.

IMHO, Mac had every intention of taking an OL and figured one would be there at 20. When that didn't happen, Mac did not have a backup plan and he panicked. The end result being Darron Lee.

In regards to RT, Mac can still make this team competitive this season, but the only way that happens is if he is willing to mortgage the future. Even a decent stopgap I doubt will come in an even trade for Geno Smith?! He will have to give up future draft choices......

I sure as hell hope so. But drafting an undersized, 2 down linebacker and a long term project QB is the reason we are such dire straits at this point in time....

Darron Lee is going to surprise many, being a former defensive back will help him be more than people think...

As for Hackenberg, I believe if he studies and works on his technique it will bode well with his development... Next off-season he will take steps on progressing his overall body of work in training camp and preseason... Was he a gamble with the 2nd pick, yes but the team was worried he wouldn't be there with our 3rd pick... But then we wouldn't of gotten our steal with our 3rd pick in Jordan Jenkins and so on...

You know this seems to be the age old problem with every front office we have. They NEGLECT the OL. This year is just another example from a different front office in a long list. Tanny actually f*cked the OL twice during his tenure in 2007 and 2011. In 2007, he bit off his nose just to spite his face and refused to pay Pete Kendall an extra million when he had been promised the prior season. Tanny was so f*cking dumb he decided to trade Kendall and go with Adrien Clarke at LG. Clarke was so bad he singlehandedly ruined the Jets offense that season. The end result was 4-12.

Then, seemingly, Tanny had learned his lesson when he went into FA the following spring and signed Alan Faneca to a 5 year 40 million dollar contract.

Then, 2010 comes around and he decides that it's OK to draft Vlad Ducasse but never sign a veteran as insurance. He was essentially so arrogant that he thought Vlad Ducasse coming out of a division II school would only need one season of grooming and he could take over for Damien Woody at RT. Well, that resulted in Wayne Hunter and absolute disaster for 2011. An 8-8 record followed an 11-5 season.

I am just hoping that Mac is smart enough to read on what caused Tanny to get fired? I just hope he's not so arrogant that he doesn't need to read up on New York Jets politics? If he doesn't sign a RT and I mean RIGHT NOW, this season will go down the tubes in a big way. If that happens? Do not be surprised if many drop off the "Mac can do no wrong" wagon and start criticizing him in a big way....

Vlad didn't come from a Division II school. He came from an FCS school. Big difference.
