BPA at #20

What if Braxton Miller is sitting there at #20, and after a great showing in Senior Bowl and combine is the BPA on MM's board? Apparently he has made tremendous strides in his conversion to WR, is extremely dangerous with the ball in his hands and can be an emergency #3 QB. It wouldn't shock me in the least if he is selected in mid to late round 1. Also Noah Spence is going to create an awful lot of discussion in war rooms throughout the league, the guy is a menace off the edge. Seeing what Von Miller did to Pats in Championship game, and Spence has drawn those comparisons, don't be surprised to see him off the board before #20.

As much as I support the theory behind the BPA anywhere you are picking, I do not think this would be a wise draft choice. Not because I don't believe in anything you are saying, you're probably right. But I think the Jets really do need to focus on some specific needs in this draft, OL, LB, RB, TE, FB just to name a few. I could see taking a WR but only later on in the draft.

So if this scenario were to happen? I would prefer Mac trade down and accumulate more draft choices in the later rounds. That's still getting all of the equity out of the pick and adding potential value a little later.

IMO Macc will be true to his word and take BAP, no matter who it is. Even another DL, and that is possible.

As good a Senior Bowl week as Miller has had, I doubt he will be the BAP on Macc's sheet. Spence? That's another story. As valuable as edge rushers are, if Spence is on the board at 20 I could see Macc taking him in a heart beat.

In a few minutes we get to see if Spence can play against the best OT at the Senior bowl. At least I'll be watching. Senior Bowl week is IMO the biggest week in the draft process.
last time the GM's get to see these guys with their pads on.

Not big on putting a whole lot of value on how fast A guy runs in his underwear.

We need OL. A lot of them.

Actually I've said this before it is not likely, but possible if Macc sticks to his word of BAP, the Jets could take a LB'er in both the first and second. ILB'er and OLB'er. Fan base would go crazy, but both are positions of need

We actually have a lot of holes for a team that went 10-6.

Biggest problem is oline and speed on defense. I think we can fix both issues with a decent offseason

I wouldn't be surprised if the new RT, and RG are already on the team. Problem is the guy they need to take a pay cut, D'Brick, they have no leverage on.

There just isn't another LT on the team. LT's are very tough to find in FA unless you have very deep pockets.

I know he's better then this he's had a very nice week in Mobile, but at the half Miller has dropped one pass wide open, and returned one punt for 2 yards.

The BPA was a no brainier last year. Williams was considered the best player in the draft . There will be no slam dunk this year at pick 20. No way in hell we take a DL

Honestly Flgreen, if we cut Brick and offer him a new contract I think he'll take it...consider this
If Brick is a post June 1 cut, we save $7 mil. We then offer him a 3 year contract worth $20 mil with an $8mil SB and
salaries of $5mil, $5mil and $2 mil.

What team is going to sign him as a LT? His wife and kids live in the area. I think the Jets and him can do a "wink-wink" kind of deal
He's already talked about retiring after the whole "Concussion movie" thing.

I wouldn't be that sure.

I'm assuming you are talking about College DT's. The odds are fairly decent that the Jets will take a college DE.

Even if you are talking about DT's, keep this in mind. At this point in time the Jets are very possibly going to lose both Wilkerson, and Snacks.

NO ONE knows what Richardson's future is going to be. In 3 year's he might be a FA All Pro................or he might be out of football.

This has to be a concern of Macc's. IMO some of the best players in this draft are DL. It is very possible that the BAP at 20 will be a DL. If Macc is thinking down the road, it will be tough to pass on him.

not saying this is going to happen and they will take a DL, that would be far from my first choice, but it is far from impossible.

Actually Boozer I have no idea what's going to happen here. My hope, that you alluded to, is that Brick will decide to retire as a Jet, and give them a team friendly deal. He was raised here, he has family here. He might just want to stay here.

OTOH he might decide to squeeze the last penny out of his career. I'm not sure what he is worth on the open market, but it might surprise us.

Jets can't risk losing him. There isn't even a developmental player behind him.

I missed 90% of game yesterday and am kinda curious about thoughts of those who watched. I had been hearing all week on the NFL/SiriusXM channel how guys like Spence (Edge), Miller (WR), Jalen Mills (CB/S), Wentz and Spriggs (OT) were standing out in practices. I'm sure there were a lot of other players who did well and might be on MM's radar. Any feedback would be appreciated.

If Brick won't take a more team friendly deal, I think we can find a cheaper if not younger/better LT in FA

How are we likely to lose both Wilkerson and snacks?

Everything I hear on Wilkerson is either a franchise tag or sign and trade. If he's trade we can afford snacks.

I said "very possibly" not likely.

With that said, If the Jets' FO is as solid as I suspect it is. Just because they have the money to pay Snacks, doesn't mean they are going to over pay him.

I think we are seeing that play out with Wilkerson right now. They had the money to pay him almost anything he wanted last year. They placed a value on him. I'm assuming it was what, in the FO's opinion, he was worth to the team. It seems Mo wanted more. The Jets declined to pay it. It appears they are willing to move on.

Think the same scenario is playing out with Snacks. They would very much like him back, but for what value the FO has placed on him. For the sake of discussion lets say the Jets tag and trade Mo (IMO likely) They now have cap space to sign Snacks. They are willing to pay him $5 M. Lil Bill offers him $8 M (Again possible, Lil Bill loves NT's. As cheap as the Pats are, in 2009 they paid Vince Wilford 8 years $40M 25 guaranteed) IMO the Jets let him walk, and it's "Next man Up" .

Hello Deon Simon.

Don't know what is going to happen, but both Mo and Snacks moving on is Possible. Over paying is never a good long term idea

The Jets are under no pressure to sign Wilkerson long term. They can tag him, tag and trade, or even tag him again next year if they want. They're completely in the driver's seat and under no pressure to give him a big contract in the immediate future. I don't think Maccagnan's actions suggest he's not interested in keeping Wilkerson. He's gotta decide who's staying and who's going, and there are more immediate decisions that need to be made regarding players like Fitzpatrick, Snacks, Ivory, Powell, Brick and Cro potentially restructuring, ect.
