Needless to say I hate Brady and the Pats, but a part of me did think that Goodell may have been a little harsh in the suspension. I thought 2 games were warranted on top of the 1st round draft pick and fine.

That said, I am surprised that the court system intervened on a collective bargaining issue.

that's the part i don't get. the CBA gave the commissioner the ability to hear cases, decide on punishment and hear appeals. not sure how it could overturn a decision based on the powers granted under the CBA

Unbelievable. He doesn't have any authority to amend the punishment. He can only validate or not validate. This just just ruled that the legally binding cba doesn't matter, his opinion does.

Probably overturned on appeal. Just no legal basis for it. Judge really over stepping his authority. Very common these days

It's really crazy that these judges who are dedicated to a higher legal understanding and a non bias career, think it's ok to just satisfy their whims,and have no regard for actual legal rulings.

No precedent exists for overturning the terms of a CBA agreed on by management and a union

Unless there are terms that are illegal which this clearly is not.
