Breaking down our free agents and discuss any worthy of returning?

After re-signing Brian Winters there are a few groups of free agents yet to be decided upon... We have only eight unrestricted free agents to discuss do they belong, or have they proven they carved out a role for themselves in returning? The list is short just because we have a lot of young players on our roster whom are either restricted or are exclusive rights free agents...

Unrestricted Free Agents:

Safety Antonio Allen
Linebacker Josh Martin
Linebacker Bruce Carter
Linebacker Corey Lemonier
Tight End Kellen Davis
Long Snapper Tanner Purdum
Tackle Ben Ijalana
Quarterback Geno Smith
Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick

Of the above list, the only one that I am curious to see if he could be anything more than a stop gap player is Corey Lemonier who showed some promise being claimed late last season... If anything a 1 year prove contract, to see if he really could be that effective throughout an entire season otherwise no one on this list really pops off the board worthy of a returning invite...

Restricted Free Agents:

Running back Khiry Robinson
Tight End Brandon Bostick
Corner Dexter McDougle
Linebacker Randell Johnson
Defensive End Mike Catapano
Center Wesley Johnson
Corner Marcus Williams

Of this list of restricted free agents, only two players deserve better than a low end tender just to secure that they aren't signed away by another team whereas we won't receive any compensation via a pick by the signee team that poaches said player... With that said the only two that are on my list are center Wesley Johnson and corner Marcus Williams... As for the others I don't see anyone really targeting them outside Mike Catapano...

Word is still out on if Dexter McDougle can carve out a role, his skill set would be a much needed addition if he can elevate his game to where he is a more durable option... Could see him replacing Revis on the outside if Darrelle does indeed move to safety...

Exclusive Rights Free Agents:

Running back Brandon Burks
Defensive Tackle Brandin Bryant
Guard Donald Hawkins
Corner Nick Marshall

This list is the shortest and only has one potential option of making the final 53 next year is corner Nick Marshall unless we severely upgrade the position this off season, he would be the odd man out... The potential in both Burks and Bryant will determine on how their individual off season workouts improve... The long shot is interior lineman Donald Hawkins, who is likely to find a spot on the practice squad...

Below is the list of guys I would keep. The rest can go... These guys add good depth at some positions and a couple can be good starters in the right spots and a couple that have some serious upside:

Linebacker Corey Lemonier - showed a lil something and needs to keep progressing
Defensive Tackle Brandin Bryant - need development time
Corner Nick Marshall - Want to see more - good depth
Center Wesley Johnson - in the mix to be to compete for starting C if not great depth
Corner Marcus Williams - Kid has potential - Flashed it this year need consistency
Tackle Ben Ijalana - In the mix to start at RT if resigned,if not good depth
Linebacker Josh Martin - ST's wiz.. the only good thing about ST's for us this year

I don't understand the love for Ijalana. I thought he got abused at RT this past year. And he's definitely not a LT. I'd move on from him. Maybe keep Qvale, Dozier, and W. Johnson for depth. Assuming Mangold comes back, I think we need to focus on competition at RT for Shell in case he doesn't work out, and obviously a LT high in the draft or a good one in FA.

Maybe it's his affordable cost and that he can add depth at a line that was just decimated by injury.

First off I forgot to include the two players in green ( wes Johnson and marcus williams ) I would resign them too. I actually think that marcus williams could be a good Free Safety if given time there.
But My only love for Ijalana is strictly for depth next year. Need LT that we dont have yet, Praying the Brandon Shell is for real at RT. If we can draft a LT prospect and get another proven player in FA , then let Ijalana walk..
