As much as you want me to copy paste you, nick, 51, SE, Blindside getting excited about year 14 of the "idzik plan" where we won 8 game and almost made the play-offs. Year 2027 was going to be a good one under idzik!

After the first year, the team had finished 8-8, had shaved itself of a ton of dead money, opened up cap space, and had about 300 picks. Yeah, we were optimistic about the state of the franchise. We had every right to be. And you were salivating at the prospect of Geno Smith being a Jet, since you had long championed a thread calling for him to be a Jet.

So rather than paint the old board as you being the only person who ever criticized Idzik, the one hero who bashed every Idzik move, maybe you should tell the real story. Several of us, myself included, blasted Idzik for the bad job he did in free agency addressing CB, or his unwillingness to draft a higher-profile WR in a receiver-deep draft. Just because we weren't kneejerk reactionaries putting up billboards and waving towels does not mean we loved Idzik's every move.

You make it sound like you were heroically standing on principle against Idzik, bashing his every move, while every other person on the board applauded his every move.

The best part about this is, I think in you mind, this is exactly how you believed it happened. You may be delusional enough to believe that piece of fiction.

Maybe back to the topic. With Franklin and Iupati gone it looks like Boling is probably our next target. He graded out in the top 20 although he was a much better run blocker (not ideal). Would really hate to depend on a C player or the draft to fill the guard position. Cause at best we wouldn't pick a guard till the second round and that's a crap shoot. Also, if you're trying to evaluate a QB then you really need to go all out to protect him. That's why I'm bumming over not getting Franklin. I would have overpaid for him.

At least I got to know how to spell Iupati correctly.

I think you sell Boling a little short. I think he might be the best prospect in FA at LG. Cincinnati badly wanted to resign him as he has also played RT in the pros. Moves well and has no real weaknesses. A solid LG. I like him over Iupati and certainly over Carpenter (these rumors disturb me).

I'm keeping this short as I don't want to miss the rest of the piling on in this thread.

It might be plan B or C. I think he can play the position but a part of me says not to mess with LG with a declining DBrick. I truly believe Aboushi will be starting somewhere on this line and continue to do so for many years. It may be RT.

you have created this legend in your own mind that you were alone in opposition to idzik and everyone else was his groupie. pretty much every former scout poster knows this is only a delusion in your own mind as you try to build up your already out-sized ego and make yourself look cool in front of the new posters. some posters, myself included, counseled patience at first, saying 2 years is generally too short to judge a GM and draft classes. but as the season progressed, pretty everyone was on board with going in a new direction.

you think like you were some trend-setter, when i've already documented posts from last summer where you were saying how great idzik's plan was and how much you loved the pryor, amaro and mcdougle picks. yes, you had some criticisms, as did others, but your head is so far up your own butt that you can't see that others had criticisms. you also bashed anyone questioning geno before last year.

I also like Boling and would be very happy at this point if we signed him (he's not the C players I was referencing). My only negative on him was that he graded out a much better run than pass blocker and again that's why I wanted Franklin.
