BREAKING NEWS: The New York Jets fire GM Mike Maccagnan

Christopher Johnson has released a statement suggesting Mac has been fired and they are searching for a new GM. In the interim Gase will serve as HC and GM, but it sounds like Gase wants Joe Douglas, current VP of Player Personnel with the Eagles. Gase and Douglas worked together with the Chicago Bears where they first developed a friendship. Lastly, Daniel Jeremiah (NFLN, former NFL Scout) is being rumored for a prominent position as well.

The New York Jets fired general manager Mike Maccagnan on Wednesday and have named head coach Adam Gase as the acting GM.

"Mike helped to execute the strategic vision of the organization during the last four seasons and especially the past few months," Jets CEO Christopher Johnson said in a statement. "However, I came to the decision to make a change after much thought and a careful assessment of what would be in the best long-term interests of the New York Jets."

The Jets also fired vice president of player personnel Brian Heimerdinger, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington.

Johnson said he would immediately start a search for a new general manager.

that's the rumor. douglas became close with gase when they both were in chicago.

i'd have to assume (hope) that's the plan. because to do this now, and also can heimerdinger, to then launch a fresh search makes no sense

Whats sad is that ESPN is reporting how Gase did not want Greg Williams as coach.
Let's see what that means for Greg Williams. If he gets canned too even at the end of the season, I am done with this organization.
