But no structural damage, as per the results of his MRI, according to various tweets.

I've just mentioned this on another thread...
This MUST be because Petty is unavailable?? Not that I know how long he'll be out for!!

I had a badly bruised shoulder once, came to an abrupt stop on a motorcycle, didn't have time to put my feet on the ground, the bike tilted over and I landed on my shoulder pretty forcefully. Soon as I got up I couldn't lift my arm, it felt like I tore my shoulder to shreds, so 'bruised shoulder' doesn't mean he'll be ready to play week one. I was in a sling for a week and on some powerful muscle relaxers. Took about three weeks to a month for my shoulder to get back to normal. Only a week before I could lift my arm and use it for menial tasks, but a few weeks before I could throw a baseball or football again with no pain or loss of arm strength. I suppose there are different degrees of sprains so I don't know if Petty's is better or worse, but that was my experience for whatever its worth.I've just mentioned this on another thread...

Why do I have the feeling once Richardson is off suspension, Geno is a goner.......
Awesome f$%^&ing news!
And he will be on the roster week one because its doubtful Petty will be ready to play if Fitz gets hurt. See my post above. Its good that we dodged a bullet on structural damage, but that doesn't mean Petty is Good to Go. Bruised shoulders don't heal right away. It takes a little time.Problem is that 1 game is worth Genos entire contract to the Cap...... So if he is there Game 1 I suspect he'll be on the roster all year

It certainly appears that way :-(Now we have to carry 4 QBS.....
There's NO excuse for this having happened in the first place. Bryce Petty outplayed Geno Smith free and clear during the 1st 3 preseason games. The Eagles should have seen Petty, having locked up the back up job, sitting on the sidelines watching Geno Smith run for his life.
Instead, due to Todd Bowles incompetence, Bryce Petty was sent out with a pathetic surrounding cast and got injured.
This is just another blunder among an increasing list as to why Todd Bowles sucks as a HC..........
AS pointed out in another thread Brady played the entire first half.... Football players need to play to get better... Petty needed the reps. He is improving but he is a young Kid who needs reps... So the criticism on the coaches is just a knee jerk hindsight being 20/20 reaction...
BS. The QB competition was over, Petty had clearly won. Geno does NOT have a future here. Petty should have laughing on the sideline with the veterans.
What's even worse is the very clear stupidity of Todd Bowles... If Fitz goes down (and seeing how poor this OL is it will probably happen at some point during the season), and Bowles marches Geno Smith out there???? Jets nation is going to turn on Bowles. He'll be digging his own grave in NY. The fans will have a field day criticizing that move.
Geno should have been playing and being advertised for a trade.
Scenario for you, MJ: You're walking down the street in your favorite Jets gear when you see a speeding bus wildly careening down the street, bearing down on a man to your side. You shove the man clear of the bus, saving his life. That man is Woody Johnson - who is so grateful that, after seeing your Jets gear, tells you that you can make ONE, and only one move on behalf of his Jets - whatever you want, he will not veto anything. Do you:
A) Cut Geno
B) Fire Bowles
C) Leave Geno and Bowles in place, but name Petty the starter
D) Other (please explain)
