BS. The QB competition was over, Petty had clearly won. Geno does NOT have a future here. Petty should have laughing on the sideline with the veterans.

What's even worse is the very clear stupidity of Todd Bowles... If Fitz goes down (and seeing how poor this OL is it will probably happen at some point during the season), and Bowles marches Geno Smith out there???? Jets nation is going to turn on Bowles. He'll be digging his own grave in NY. The fans will have a field day criticizing that move.

Geno should have been playing and being advertised for a trade.

Totally disagree. While I like Petty and feel he can be our QB sometime in the future, he did not nail down the 2nd sting job prior to the Eagles game. Bowles made the right call playing him, but obviously hindsight is 20/20. The aboslute dumbest HC move in the preseason was when Rex put in Sanchez in the 4th quarter against the Giants in 2013. Sanchez was the clear starter who had no business playing behind a bunch od no name offensive lineman.

I am all for Bryce Petty but he was too inconsistent this off season/training camp and preseason the real reason he isn't ready to be the #2... Yes I agree Geno Smith does NOT have a future here BUT he is knowledgeable of this offense and the team feels Fitzpatrick is too wild that he can get injured (knock on wood) that they rather have Geno this year who is under contract (contract year) which is affordable...

After this season Geno Smith is going to walk away looking for an opportunity and some dumb team is going to overpay him whereas we will receive some low end compensatory selection for him... Come next season Petty not only could improve his stock where he can compete for the starting role at worst backup role...

Problem is that 1 game is worth Genos entire contract to the Cap...... So if he is there Game 1 I suspect he'll be on the roster all year

Geno's salary was guaranteed this by virtue of his contract. Even had the Jets moved him in pre-season they still would have his salary on thier cap.

Scenario for you, MJ: You're walking down the street in your favorite Jets gear when you see a speeding bus wildly careening down the street, bearing down on a man to your side. You shove the man clear of the bus, saving his life. That man is Woody Johnson - who is so grateful that, after seeing your Jets gear, tells you that you can make ONE, and only one move on behalf of his Jets - whatever you want, he will not veto anything. Do you:
A) Cut Geno
B) Fire Bowles
C) Leave Geno and Bowles in place, but name Petty the starter
D) Other (please explain)

I move the Jets to a radio station I can get up here in northern Connecticut. If you can believe this, ESPN headquarters is in our state, but many of the residents in this part of the state can't get their FM signal. It is overpowered by a rock and roll station from Massachusetts. Thanks, guys, for making your AM station a Spanish Language outlet.
