Well, experience comes with time, so firing Bowles undercuts that. And Rex's experience got him 8 wins with a team that many believed was better than the Jets last year. As for Bowles' credentials, he won the NFL's award as the league's top assistant in his last year in Arizona, when he was...wait for it...defensive coordinator. So I would disagree with you massively if you think Rex is a genius on defense and Bowles is not. That's just nonsense.

And yes, Jets fans and the media are impatient. If he goes 8-8 this year, should he be fired after two seasons with an 18-14 record?

Well, I see this defense ultimately being about the same as they were last season against last place competition. This year however, I do not see ranking statistically anywhere near the top of the defensive rankings. This year they face all top 5 offenses from one season ago. If you're going to brag about being the best then you should be able to hang with the best.

I am convinced the Darron Lee pick is the worst POS pick that this organization has made in recent years. Lee is nothing more than a Safety masquerading around as a linebacker, he will get exposed many times this season. At best he is a situational and extremely undersized LB. The idea that he is going to cover Gronkowski is the biggest crock of sh*t I think I have ever seen. What amazes me is how so many on this site have swallowed this feces whole. He WILL get tossed aside like a dirty wash rag.

His career is 100% dependant on Bowles and Mac maintaining a massive DL that is loaded with number 1 draft choices, because if that DL does not keep the OL busy, they will get to the second level and when they do (this is not a matter of IF, this is a matter of WHEN) Darron Lee will get annihilated.

What's so incredibly stupid about the pick to begin with is that they could have just as easily taken a Safety and utilized that player to the same effectiveness.

You claiming that Bowles is every bit the defensive coordinator that Rex Ryan is/was/will be just shows how you cannot even remember when you sold out.

I will bet you right now that Todd Bowles will NEVER win this team a SB. Never. In fact, I will even go so far as to say he will never get us to an AFC Championship. His true colors came out last season and what I saw was a chump quite frankly. The spoils for this bet will be 100% up to you. With that said, I am a Jets fan, and I truly hope that by some strange act of god Todd Bowles turns out to be correct and Mainejet turns out to be a retarded a$$hole. Let me tell you, there are MANY in this league that have achieved that. In fact, Rich Kotite is widely considered to be one of the worst coaches in NFL history. Certainly was the worst in Jets history. Even Kotite had 10 win and 11 win seasons in Philadelphia. So my only response to Todd Bowles' 10 win season is you better show me a whole hell of a lot more than this turd from 2015 that resulted in no playoffs.

To characterize this appropriately and not necessarily disagreeing with you, I do not think Darron Lee is a worse pick than Vernon Gholston. I just think he is miscast in a 3-4 and really better suited to play in the secondary. It's not beyond repair for the team as a whole. But they should eventually, and probably will, change their alignment to a 4-3. It's the only way this team can showcase all of it's defensive line talent AND keep Darron Lee clean to make plays.

However, if Bowles chooses to be stubborn about this and continue this nonsense about Darron Lee being an all world linebacker that's going to play inside and outside AND cover Gronkowski, he WILL crash and burn. That much I have no doubt.

And really that's why I am calling the Jets 2016 season into question. For this team to be successful in 2016 they needed an every down player that could make a major impact. Darron Lee is NOT that guy. He is a situational linebacker. He's a guy you bring in when it's 3rd down and have a blitz on.

But this team is MISSING things in major areas. They do not have a TE. They have serious questions along the OL. They need and do not have IMO a FB. In other words, there were better ways to utilize the Jets 1st and 2nd round picks. My opinion is that Mac panicked when the board did not fall the way he had hoped. In other words, he was ill prepared to make the most of a bad situation and that's why we ended up with Darron Lee.

Only time will prove me right/wrong.........

On the positive side, his late draft looks like a real coup. Charone Peake, Jalin Marshall, Robbie Anderson, Chandler Worthy???? these guys could possibly make a bad season much better than it possibly could be. I believe this will be a tough, losing season for the Jets. But if Bowles does part ways with all of these unknown, but very good, WR's, special teams guys in favor of f*cking Geno, then it could fix this team up pretty for 2017....
