Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports that the Jaguars are "trying to finalize an agreement" to make Byron Leftwich their next head coach.

Adam Schefter quickly followed up with a report that the Jaguars are continuing to talk with Leftwich, along with Colts DC Matt Eberflus and others, but are not close to a deal with anyone. Still, Leftwich was already considered the favorite for the Jaguars job, and the odds of him landing the job appear to be increasing slightly. Leftwich's connection with the Jaguars and his impressive resume as the Buccaneers' offensive coordinator make him a logical choice to wake up Trevor Lawrence's promising skill set from an Urban Meyer induced coma.

Just because Byron Leftwich was an OC for Tampa Bay under Tom Brady throughout 2020-2021 doesn't make him out to be some next great HC candidate because the last time I checked during his 1st ever year as an OC in 2019 for Tampa Bay (before Brady) Byron Leftwich watched Jameis Winston toss by far his career high of 30 INTs (with his play calls) and Tampa Bay finished 7-9 because of it. And as a QB coach for Arizona throughout 2017 & 2018 his QBs (all of them) played like absolute trash.

Poor Trevor Lawrence. Jacksonvill's Front Office/Owner is going to ruin his once promising career. Byron Leftwich? Are you freaking kidding me? 😅🤮😆🤣

But Winston threw for over 5109 yards with Leftwich's play calls. So maybe it was Winston being a moron that led to 30 INT's.

Hard to hire this guy who’s the OC on a team whose HC is an offensive innovator himself . Kind of like the Situation in Kansas City with Bienemy .
I guess we’ll have to see if he gets hired .

He has been moving up the ranks and has learned from a great HC. He deserves a chance. It doesn't affect the Jets at all.
