In all honestly, I think he was key this season. Our safeties had a great year. We need to create more pressure from our blitz and then our defense will be top notch.

Pryor was excellent this year. Bowles Big Nickle defense fitted his skill set perfect. Hopefully he's right and will be going to the Pro Bowl next year.

I don't think the Jets need a pass rush from their DB's blitzing, that's what they did this season with mixed results.

What they really need is a big pass rush off the edge. i thought Coples was going to do it this year and break out. I was wrong, and Coples is now gone.

There are several edge rushers who MIGHT be on the board when the Jets pick this year. Hope there is one Bowles likes when we pick.

BTW, are you guys having fun building snow men yet? :)

Pryor played the spur role LB/S in the box...
Gilchrist was our strong safety that was limited as a coverage option...

If we could either draft, sign a free agent or even make Marcus Williams a full time free safety, then we can have coverage over the top to allow Bowles/Rodgers to utilize more of a man coverage opposed to the zone we played prominently all season long...

Revis may not have the top end speed anymore but his skill set was misused this year where he is good jamming at the line, redirecting and interfering timing routes by getting physical from the point of the snap... Worrying about him getting beat deep is fixed with that coverage safety over the top...

I know everyone is hoping Williams to replace Cromartie... McDougle, not Milliner has shown enough potential to make that next step... I still think Dex is better suited for nickel role, but Skrine fits that role well...

Keeping the defensive line intact, with this secondary allows the defense to not have a top tier guy at linebacker to succeed...

Not really true

From SI

In the secondary, it’s all about that man coverage. Yes, Cromartie does gamble at times and gets caught in bad positions, and Skrine is far from unbeatable inside, but with Revis they have one of the game’s best.

From CBS Sports

The corner play. With Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie and Buster Skrine, the Jets have the players to match up and play man coverage, which is how Bowles can get creative up front. He can bring six and even seven with the coverage skills of those players.

Skrine isn't in the same class as the other two, but he's a nice third corner. It helps that free safety Marcus Gilchrist is a former corner who also provides range. He had a nice pick last week against the Redskins where he came off the player in the middle of the field, spun around, and made a nice pick closer to the sideline. That's the range that is needed in a defense with so many man-cover principles and attack-mode fronts.

After Revis was concussed the Jets played a bit more zone. IMO they didn't want him getting in jousting matches.
