Apparently the Jets are working out Beathard and Peterman for the backup role in case Tyrod isn't ready for Week 1, on the grounds that Cook and Martinez haven't taken a regular season snap. Don't like this, the only way to get experience of taking a regular season snap is to take a regular season snap. If these guys are not capable of playing if required then they shouldn't be in the squad,

They are fighting for the QB 3 spot. Developmental players. One will be cut. Probably Martinez since Cook is having a much better camp. That's why they are on the roster. You were saying the same thing when Fields was signed. The cap and limited talent pool makes it imperative that teams develop players. It's done by every team at every position.

I've now seen it suggested that Beathard/Peterman would only be with the Jets for two weeks to compensate for Cook and Taylor being injured. They would be camp arms and split pre-season match time with Martinez to avoid having to bring in Fields with the second/third string.
Seems reasonable but it's the Jets.
Why that's where he should be most comfortable

Latest cuts are Miller WR, O Wilson WR, Johnson TE, Jackson OT, Mulbah DT and Goodrich CB. I'm amazed that Corley isn't there, they must be hoping someone will accept him as a trade makeweight. Also Kunz showed a sufficiently limited catch radius on the last drive against the Eagles for the Jets to finally cut bait with him.
I think Kuntz has a better shot than Ruckert to make the roster, just based on his blocking ability.
