Austin Seferian Jenkins should play tomorrow. If the CS is smart they'll go the TE's way probably about 5 or 6 times. This could be all the difference the Jets need to get the offense back on track? Fitz likes big targets. You saw it all last season, Fitz would go to Marshall when he was doubled, sometimes even triple covered and Marshall would come down with the football because he was simply taller than the defenders, could jump higher and Fitz would throw it up where only Marshall could get it. It worked like a charm last season.
So I ask the question......Could adding a 6'7" TE with nice hands get Fitz out of his slump? IMO, ASJ could come in handy for the Jets certainly in Pittsburgh aiding our running game but giving Fitz yet another receiving option.
Fitz is just in a slump right now. The fact is, he's never been a very good QB, shitty is actually accurate. But lets be honest, he's never been as bad as he's been the last two weeks. Everyone is going overboard wanting him benched when really this is a freak slump that he's going through. Fitz WILL get better. He's never going to be Joe Montana, but he can be a good QB if he's coached well enough and has talent around him.
I don't doubt the Jets have plenty of receiving talent right now. ASJ only makes the amount of talent this team has that much more ridiculous. But I do doubt if the CS can coach up Fitz? Todd Bowles does not seem to know how to play chess. It makes me wonder if Bowles/Gailey are capable of coaching up Fitz and getting him back on track. However, that's my only doubt besides the defense. What's going on with them is what I feel will ultimately cause Bowles to be fired, but that's a topic for another thread.
