Charley Casserly, who will consult Jets after season in the event of organizational changes, has reached out to Ron Wolf, per source

It's my understanding nobody in Jets org has reached out to Wolf at this point. However Casserly has. As @AlbertBreer said, nothing done yet

Highly regarded ex-GM Ron Wolf could join Jets as consultant

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- New York Jets owner Woody Johnson apparently is trying to assemble a dream team of consultants.

In addition to Charley Casserly, who will advise Johnson for the anticipated head coach and general manager searches, Johnson is looking to add another consultant of Casserly's ilk. The names of Bill Parcells, Bill Polian and Ernie Accorsi have been mentioned in media circles, but I don't believe those are possibilities for various reasons. As noted earlier, one name to watch is former Green Bay Packers general manager Ron Wolf, a legendary figure in scouting circles.

Like Casserly, Wolf is a member of the NFL's career development advisory panel, which is comprised of eight former coaches and general managers. The panel was created a year ago to help identify coaching and general manager candidates for teams.

I don't think Wolf is a done deal yet for the Jets, but they seem interested. It wouldn't be a surprise if something is finalized over the weekend. A Wolf-Casserly tandem would be a great start for the Jets.

Think 76, but he doesn't have to make any tackles. Hopefully.

IMO Woody is bringing him in to to see what holes might be in Casserly's advise. Doesn't look real good for Idzik.

I think it's an excellent idea. Last time he brought in all businessmen to hire a Football guy. This time he's bringing in all Football guys to hire a Football guy.

Sounds like a plan

it does sound like a plan.. i was thinking that casserly was interested in wolf as a GM.. but renegade made a good point about zimmer being torre's right hand as a bench coach at about the same age.. so yeah i'm on board..

Casserly has reached out to Wolf, so obviously Casserly is already working behind scenes. I guess until Woody officially announces that Idzik and Rex are fired after the Miami game, Casserly's appointment as consultant won't be official. It appears the Jets are on the verge of a major house cleaning.

If all these rumors are true, what an intriguing situation. Real cloak and dagger stuff.

Seems like Casserly hasn't been announced as anything to the Jets yet. But he is behind the scenes recruiting Wolf, to help him. LOL

Both of these guys are well respected, top retired personnel guys, who are not on the Jets payroll.....................Yet

This sets up a situation where they can can have lunch with, or make "friendly" phone calls to , potential Candidates, with out getting in a tampering situation. Their not employees.

And I suspect this is suppose to be concealed from Idzik . LOL

How the hell does all this information get leaked? I would have expected it to be a bit on the hush side.

A lot of these type leaks are leaked intentionally. It can be a method of getting the word out to perspective candidates that they are being considered with out violating any tampering rules.

Plus every corporation has disgruntled employees.
