CBSSports: Cardinals likely to pass on Kyler Murray

AZ appears to be cooling on Kyler. Now obviously this is the season of smokescreens, but this rumor is picking up some steam lately.

If true, this potentially changes things quite a bit for the Jets. If AZ and SF take two of the top defenders, the Jets may get some interest from a team wanting to leapfrog the Raiders for Murray. A big draft pick compensation deal. I believe Maccagnan would seriously consider it.

I would assume they are taking Bosa, then? If so, I think Q Williams fits the Niners better than Allen, as Allen is more an edge in a 3-4 OLB position, while Williams could slide right in on that DL.

That would leave the Jets with either Allen or a big deal from a team looking to leapfrog the Raiders. Nobody will try to leapfrog the Jets for Murray, since the Jets have practically 0 chance of showing interest in a QB.

It's the week before the draft. I'm not sure I believe anything anyone says right now.

My biggest fear, if we stay pat at 3, is we pass on Allen or Williams. I have very little faith in Macagnan and he has shown he will go off the grid and try to get cute. He's done it every draft so far. Hoping the new coaching staff can talk some sense into him. If Murray is still there at 3 the Jets will trade down and we will have to rely on Mac to make the best picks possible with his newfound multiple picks in the first two rounds. UGH!

I don't think Murray interests many teams other than AZ in the first round.

I posted this a week or so back, but Mayock is on record saying he’d take a QB if he thought that QB was better than Carr. Gruden is rumored to love Murray.

All we need is one QB desperate team to sell the farm for their perceived FQB. Outside of his height, Murray is a polished prospect. I find it hard to believe that someone in that group of QB needy teams doesn’t covet him. Jacksonville, Miami, Washington, even Denver.

I’m not leaning either way. I’m fine picking at 3. But if we get a big haul for a move down about 7-12 spots, we could be set up well. This draft is deep into the 3rd round. We could potentially address multiple needs. Maybe even find a new starting Center like Bradbury.

WOW, decisions-decision huh! If this true then that will most likely leave the Jets with deciding between drafting Allen at #3 or trading back for a haul of picks. Can’t go wrong either way IMO. Being that we need more then just an edge rusher I say trade back. Jets need to fix the oline just as bad if not more. Hard to believe anything anyone says a week before the draft, even our own GM.

Nick Bosa had a 3 day visit with Arizona, if that is a smoke screen then that is a huge one...

Az takes Bosa or trades down had been my thinking...….But what if they take Bosa first & if he is still around trades up for Murray later in the first....then trades Rosen or as some in AZ feels keeps both qb's……..

You know exactly who you're going to pick. Ham is right. It's B.S. . They just don't want anyone knowing until it's time to make the call. Dead on the money.

Last year before the draft the Browns GM, John Dorsey, was telling people he still hadn't made a decision right up until the day before the draft. The next day, sometime that afternoon or thereabouts, reports started leaking that the Browns MIGHT take Baker Mayfield. Even then the story was not that Dorsey has made his decision and it's definitely Mayfield. Nope, the story was that they are seriously considering taking Mayfield #1 which surprised most people because for months they assumed it was Darnold. Anyway, we have since learned, and Dorsey admitted this, that last year they decided it was definitely going to be Mayfield at least a week before the draft.

An interesting side note: There are, if I counted right, 108 mock drafts here and only 11 of them have the Jets trading out of #3.
