So I caught the tail end of a conversation on ESPN radio. I believe it was Chad Pennington talking with Bart Scott and his cohost and I couldn’t believe what Chad said. Chad actually said that the Jets need to admit that they made a mistake by letting Sam Darnold go. WTF!!! I was SO disappointed in hearing this crap from him. He actually said that trading Sam to the Panthers was the best move for him but the Jets should not have traded him. Pretty much he was saying that the Jets will regret letting Sam go. Are you serious Chad? He can’t be serious can he? Did he actually watch the game and see what I saw and what most of us observed?
Yes we lost the game but Zach hung in there while getting beat down the entire game and managed to bring us within a five point lose. We actually had a slim chance of winning that game! Maybe I’m wrong in my thinking here but I can’t think of not one game which Sam showed me in three years what Zach showed in one game. Yes I’m well aware of the fact that Sam was under attack for pretty much the entire three years, like Zach was yesterday and it’s not like we went 0-16 with Sam all three years. So yes I am well aware of that but that’s not what I’m talking about. What I’m talking about is Sam did win us a few games but not in the situation like this. Not like what Zach dealt with yesterday.
Any game that Sam was under extreme duress like Zach was yesterday we have absolutely no chance. We actually had a chance yesterday and that is something to be happy about and truly build off of. Sam is a improviser, just like Zach is but he’s inaccurate as hell and he’s a turnover machine. He always had that happy feet issue with us, really didn’t remain calm under duress and always made those killer mistakes. That did not happen with Zach yesterday and that’s something to build off of. Look at it like this, put Sam Darnold on the Jets yesterday and he would’ve turn the ball over 2-3 more times and we would’ve got beat by 30!
