Keep in mind that there are coaches from 8 other teams in playoffs who may be being considered for the job. I wouldn't be ready to jump off the bridge just yet.

The Jets OC position is not a very attractive job, with Bowles on a "getting warmer" hot seat, and two projects at QB. It's going to take someone willing to accept a big challenge, and during a transitional period for the Jets as they try to weed out their roster of aging veterans.

I'm sure not too many people are banging the door down, but the position will be filled soon. Hopefully someone who has a background in QB development.

We'll be fine. No need to go overboard and over react. Yes, OC is important and probably the most important coaches but it all comes down to execution. The Jets made the playoffs with both Schotty and Hackett and those guys were the worst OCs in NFL history.

Matt Nagy, the Chiefs' co-offensive coordinator... Could be a target, but will have to wait until Chiefs are done...

Matt Nagy would be someone that would be a good fit too. NJ guy with QB experience. Coaching A Smith who has to high comp rate and low turn over rate that we all dream of.

Not sure where this info belongs, but I was floored when I read it. From Cimini:

"Two heads better than one? One of the most interesting decisions in the offseason involves the running back position. Picking sixth, the Jets could have a shot at the top backs in the draft, Leonard Fournette and Dalvin Cook. There's a good chance both will be on the board. The diminished value of the position makes it hard to take a running back that high, but look at what Ezekiel Elliott has done for the Cowboys.

Maybe the Jets already have their version of Zeke -- in the form of two bodies. Consider:

Bilal Powell and Matt Forte combined for 349 rushes, 1,535 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Elliott: 332 rushes, 1,631 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Closer than you might have thought, right?"

What I take from this is that our QB play was monumentally bad. With our WR corps and perhaps a LT through FA or draft, a new OC has something to work with.

definitely..

but if the plan is to try to be within shouting distance again of that kind of production, i would hope we draft a complaint to powell (say in the 4th or 5th rounds) & cut ties with forte..

I think if you are McCoy and O'Brien if available you look at the Jets offense... you see talented players in Powell, Enunwa, Anderson, Decker, Peake, J. Marshall a solid OL if they get a RT and think... Let's get the QB I WANT... and maybe O'Brien knows what to do with Hack, you go f this team is bad but I can turn the O around I will be front runner for HC of this team next year or if we become a winning team I will be in the running for the openings elsewhere easy.... Look at Anthony Lynn he went from RB Coach to OC to Interim HC to leading candidate for the Bills all in less than a year
He has better pieces where he is,and is a head coach candidate. If he leaves Texas it's as a head coach.

I think he would be a great pick. And if Nick Foles does get cut like expected he would be a huge upgrade at QB and no learning curve with the offense.

Also could see a guy like mike Zordich as DB coach. Coached with Bowles in Philly in 12' ?

ONLY one spot left and that's the Niners.. Reports were the Texans could fire him but not sure they were accurate.. and I honestly think he'd rather be OC with us then go to a dysfunctional organization like the niners. Especially if theos reports in Hou are true because those say there is a lot of dysfunction between him and the GM. Specifically revolving around O'Brien reportedly wasn't as confident in OSweiler as the GM was and ultimately the GM won that battle.. Even though it's evident O'Brien will win that war

Not sure the Jets are any less dysfunctional.

The Chiefs are done' all right. And it is mainly because of their offense. It was right out of the stone age, with their best offensive threat (that fast kid) only getting seven touches in the entire game (from ESPN). It is the kind of under-utilizing a good player that only fans who have suffered watching Bilal Powell not being used can only appreciate.
Please say NO to Nagy.

The Jets need an OC who has the nerve (this is a family forum) to tell the HC that he is wrong. And you're saying that Nagy isn't properly er, ... , equipped to do that.
That even supports my NO.
