ok, give me your (realistic) suggestion of an OC that will take the jets job

I don't follow other team's coaches closely enough to be able to name one.
But my profile of that candidate would be someone who coaches a team with a mid or above offense who has been given the responsibility by his HC to design, if not call, plays. His experience might not be as an OC, but a unit coach (QB, RB, WR) looking to move up to a more responsible position and be regarded by his peers as someone who could handle it.

well you obviously won't get an existing coordinator. and there's no guarantee a team will grant the jets access for a highly valued position coach (the eagles just blocked the jets from interviewing their QB coach).

your description sound great on paper. may be harder than you think to fill that spot given the jets have an on-the-hot-seat head coach and 2 huge question marks at QB. not sure many up-and-comers would jump at the opportunity.

i honestly don't know much about the guy from KC. seems to be well regarded. but i wouldn't hold it against him that andy reid didn't utilize tyreke hill more in a playoff game. reid is one of the most stubborn coaches out there, and also one of the most experienced. i'm sure we could find a reason to knock any candidate if we pick a select game where the team didn't do well.

I agree. But a young coach looking to move up might take the risk of a short term job to gain experience at the higher position.
Its just a dream. Sigh.
BTW- I have no respect for Andy Reid, for reasons that don't involve his coaching. And this is not the place to discuss why.

ESPN's Rich Cimini reports the Jets are interested in former Texans OC George Godsey for their vacant offensive coordinator position.

Cimini reports an interview could happen as soon as Tuesday at the Senior Bowl. The Texans offense struggled with Godsey running the show in 2016, and he had his play-calling duties stripped at one point in the season. He did good work with a slew of replacement-level quarterbacks in 2015, however, and cannot really be blamed for the disaster which is Brock Osweiler. Considering the lack of interest in the job around the league, this would not be a bad hire for the Jets. Cimini reports they are also interested in Saints WRs coach John Morton

I think Godsey might be the best choice out there and the best choice for us. The texans offense sucking had nothing to do with Godsey as we all know. He has history with Hack..... Though I wouldn't be mad at taking a shot at John Morton.

I also think he helped recruit Hackenberg in PSU. He'll be a good fit.

Speculation Bowles likes Brentson Buckner a lot as a potential replacement for Pepper Johnson... But he currently employed by the Cardinals for the same position, doubt that BA will allow him to leave...

not sure why he is interested... it was just stated...

Nunn is more of a linebacker guy, which he played at Ok St. ...
Buckner joined with Julius Peppers, Mike Rucker and Kris Jenkins to form what many experts called the most dominating front four defensive line in football... At the end of the day building a coaching staff for the front seven would be optimal to getting the best out of them...

Saw that David Lee was just hired by Browns for their QB coaching position. I know some have mentioned Lee as a possibility for the Jets to mentor their QBs. May be an indication that Cleveland will be taking a QB with one of their early picks, and will be under the mentor-ship of Lee.

the main rumor is that the Browns are smitten with Deshaun Watson...
some other rumors have them over the moon on Myles Garrett, but time will see...

ROTO WORLD Ranks NFL Coaches! Guess where Bowles was ranked? Boweles Ranked 25th ahead of 1 other vet Coach, Pagano & 2 rookie Coaches in Shanahan & Marrone. Thats very bad for Jets. To be honest because the Jets players flat out Quit last season & even worse they quit on National TV when Players usually show case their talent. Bowles is the WORST Coach for that alone. Only way Bowles to have any chance with Jets Players this year is to clean house of all Players that Quit. This means Wilkerson/Robinson must be cut or Traded to worst team at all costs. You cant have 1 Player on team that does that. This sends a message to Rookies that no matter who you are, if you dont play hard for Jets you will be traded to worst NFL team. Williams has me worried being next to 2 Players(Wilk/Robinson) quitting & also Revis. Clean house & Bowles needs to discipline Players from Rookies to Stars & if not? FIRE BOWLES!

Wilkerson is still on the team but Robinson is DONE, GONE, OUTTA HERE. He was soo bad last year i don't even remember him playing one single snap.Not mentioned one time, never during mini camps, training camps or even once during the regular season. I'm glad he's gone.

Great post, McJet. I agree entirely. Screw Meldon Robinson. That bum quit on the team. Trade him to NE for their 2018 1st. Fair deal.
