Charlie Casserly's Mock Draft - Top 10 Picks - NFL Network

Just saw him on a live broadcast on NFL Network. Here are his choices for the top ten picks.

  1. Tampa - Jameis Winston
  2. Ten - Randy Gregory
  3. Jacksonville - Dante Fowler
  4. Oakland - Kevin White
  5. Washington - Shane Ray
  6. Browns - (After trade with Jets) Marcus Mariota
  7. Chicago - Vic Beasley
  8. Atlanta - Leonard Williams
  9. NY Giants - Andrus Peat
  10. St. Louis - Ereck Flowers

Interesting seeing Amari Cooper drop out of the top 10. Pass rushers are a hot commodity this year.

Love it! This means the Jets avoid drafting Mariota. I am glad Casserly thinks the Jets' administration would do that.

I can see this happening and I'm fine with it. Browns I believe have given up on Manzeil and hope they can salvage this some kind of way. The Jets have to drain them as dry as they can if this is going to happen. Maybe asking to much but I'd say their two 1st rounders, their second this year and their first next year. I think that's fair enough but I'm guessing some of you guys won't. Thoughts!

Not: We then can draft a LB and o-linemen with the two 1st rounders they gave us.

55, my reaction to the Browns not parting with both of there 1st rounders is that , in that case , I'd rather stay put and take BPA, and rely on our high 2nd rounder to get another immediate starter wherever the need for a starting caliber player ( ie OL ) falls.

Yep, it's not often you get a chance to draft someone at 6. Many good players we might be targeting could be gone between 6 and 11. If this mock is any indication, pass rushers in particular will be flying off the boards. And you cannot address this position in FA. You must draft your own. Same holds true for WR's. Not often do you get a chance to get a player like Cooper, if he's there, which I doubt. There may be some hard decisions being made on draft day.

right, right - didn't you want Fowler? I like Gregory, but I'll be happy with any passs rusher Bowles and Co feels fits the system best. Fowler, Dupree, Gregory, Ray, Thompson, and Beasely - all have ability and need to be placed in teh right systems to be successful, so whoever the coaches feel fit our systems the best, is fine by me.

This mock draft makes me question the hiring of Macagnan

+1 agree. There were multiple reasons why Charlie was run out of town by the Redskins, but poor draft choices was one of the main reasons.

I don't think you're going to get that. I doubt you get more than their 2 1st's. For an indication, see below:

#6 - 1600 points
#12 - 1200 points
#19 - 875

By the chart alone, we would owe them nearly the equivalent of our 2nd round pick as our #5 pick in the 2nd round is worth 530 points. I don't know if you could squeeze anything more out of them. More accurately, the value would be nearly equal if they traded their highest 1st and their 2nd. But on draft day, anything can happen and if they want that QB bad enough, we can name our price. Chicago picks after us and they have an aging, sketchy Qb for a new regime. Cleveland can't bank on him falling further.

:) Yeah, tell that to the texan fans when he built a team with mario Williams, Andre Johnson, Arian Foster, and Matt Shaub that went to the AFC championship game...tell them how bad he drafted...

he took an expansion team and made them a play-off team, other than that, he drafted horribly...

Redskins was a long time ago.

Cy, you always point out Mario wasnt good on the Texans, he had 53 sacks in 82 games, or a sack every 1.5 sacks.

After his rookie year, he had 1 sack every 1.35 games. He wasn't good, he was an amazing draft pick when everyone wanted the Texans to take Bush or Lienart, Casserly drafted a Hall of Famer. He's probably going to end up with almost 150 sacks for his career.

Yeah I hear you 55, but with the Texans, all those draft picks were no brainers. If Charlie was so great as a GM, why is he a part time consultant for the Jets ? I believe half of what I hear from Charlie.

He resigned and took a job in the NFL corporate office. He drafted Mario and then stepped down. It was his decision.

"HOUSTON - Houston Texans general manager Charley Casserly resigned Wednesday, saying he was leaving on his own terms to pursue a job in the NFL's front office."

6) Amari Cooper WR 6'1"/210 - Tide. Here's a chance to get a young fast clean kid, no trouble gym rat type. Marshall is no spring chicken. Julio Jones Jr..

37) Eli Harold OLB 6'4"/240 - UVA. He's a hair below Fowler & Gregory, but just as good as Beasley in the ACC, plus Virginia runs a 3-4 D.

70) Cody Prewitt FS 6'2"/215 - Ole Miss. One of the best FS in College football. If we sign Cromartie as a FS then draft my boy from W-F Kevin White CB.

101) Nate Orchard DE/OLB/ILB 6'3"/252 - Utah. This kid will replace Harris next year. We need versatile LB's with speed & bulk.

5) Traded Brandon Marshall

6) Traded for Percy Harvin

7A (198) Ali Marpet G 6'4"/315 - Hobart. Small College animal. He beat up the big boys in bowl game.

7B (199) Justin Manton P 6'3"/198 - Louisiana-Monroe. It might be time for a new punter

Go Jets...Cyborg

Personally, I like my mock draft better than Charlie's. Note: I completed this draft before we signed Gilcrest FS, so I might now change Cody Prewitt FS.

When you hear the word resign, that is a politically correct term for, he was fired or asked to leave. No way Charlie resigned from the Texan's as GM to take any NFL job. Just saying.

I would never suggest Casserly stole my thunder, that guy has forgotten more about football than I'll ever know, but it makes me feel good to know that my projection for the Jets in my last mock draft about a week or so ago wasn't far-fetched or ridiculous.

I had the Jets making the exact same trade with Cleveland and taking the exact same player Casserly had us taking at #12 last night on the NFLN, Alvin Dupree.
