then people were quoting his first half of his post and in turn in the quote was about the deleted post...

That's the intent. "Good-bye" seems so final, almost fatalistic to someone my age.
Later literally means, "until we meet(talk) again" and is optimistic.
There's someone on another site who uses "later" snidely, every time we disagree.

No worries. I used to say "later" all the time when I was younger, probably why I always think it needs a response. Peace.
