The Browns have shown high interest in both Wentz and Cal's Jared Goff; head coach Hue Jackson and quarterbacks coach Pep Hamilton traveled to the pro days of both signal-callers (Jackson was the only NFL head coach who was present for Wentz's workout). They also had the draft's presumptive No. 3 quarterback, Memphis' Paxton Lynch, in for a visit. However, Cleveland has also been doing its homework on quarterbacks likely to be available after Round 1.

They've worked out Michigan State's Connor Cook, met with Stanford's Kevin Hogan, and put Mississippi State's Dak Prescott through a series of psychological tests the day before his pro day last month. Hogan was Hamilton's first recruit when he was a coach at Stanford, per The Washington Post.

When the Browns signed Robert Griffin III to a two-year deal last month, NFL Media draft expert Mike Mayock said he didn't believe RGIII's addition would change the team's draft plans.

Jets? Wentz or Goff at No. 2?

It depends.

I don't want Maccagnan selling the farm for just anyone. If he thinks Wentz or Goff is the Answer, then make the trade. You've gotta show some guts every once in a while as a GM. People who never take any chances in life are suckers. You've gotta go with your instincts sometimes, and trust the people you've hired to advise you. Being too cautious doesn't get you anywhere.

If Wilkerson and the #20 pick gets you the QB you want, do it. This team has suffered too long without a franchise QB. I think Wentz is for real. I don't know if Maccganan agrees with me, though.

I think Goff is more ready than most give him credit for... But think both need at least a full off season to have any shot at making it at this level... After those two Lynch probably needs two full seasons... After these three the drop off is much, where a Prescott, Cook, Hackenberg with the same time frame could develop into a quality starters...

Depending on the Rams pick, watch out for an Eagles/Browns trade...

If we are in the battle for anything it could be Titans No. 15 along with one or two 2nd rounds picks for Wilkerson and our No. 20 selection... Especially if Lynch is still on the board, and btw I don't agree with Paxton Lynch's upside, to me boom or bust tag should be applied to his stock...

Believe Prescott then Brissett are contenders in the mid rounds and could be a steal in the 4th round to develop and compete with Petty...

What makes you think Goff is ready? Nobody knows that.

Personally, I would trade mo and our 2nd to get into pick 5 or wherever necessary for Treadwell, then keep 20 for bpa olb.

His defensive recognition, quick decision and quick release makes him more pro ready then any prospect in this draft... Assuming he can get comfortable with the playbook he is the type of signal caller you can start day one as he would not hold on to the ball longer than needed...

I am not on his bandwagon just stating his technical prowess in translating to pro readiness...

As for trading Mo with our 2nd won't get us no higher than 12th pick if the team is interested in retaining Wilkerson...

To trade into the top 5 would need to add our No. 20th selection and then in return get a 3rd and/or 4th pick in return...

I think Philly would take it.

Goff hasn't shown these traits against top talent, it takes faith of a college kids talents to assume that translates.

Philly is likely to move up to Browns pick...

The only team right now that has any interest outside the Titans for Mo is the Bears...

Jets made an offer to the Titans, so did the Eagles and the Rams won the bid...

If the Eagles tried to move up to No. 1 then they have someone they want what if the Rams take the other guy, why wouldn't the Eagles move up to the Browns No. 2 pick to get their guy?

Don't listen to gossip... Have good intel from people around the league... If the Eagles tried to trade up to the Titans No. 1 pick do you really believe it was to take Ezekiel Elliot No. 1 overall? The only reason they would trade up is to get a QB especially since they are already in the Top 8...

Here's my problem with your thought process, I don't think Wilkerson and our #20 will be good enough to move up to the #2 spot. Browns will probably want 2-3 more HIGH round draft picks and that's way to much. Another issue is if whatever they want will get us Wentz and Wentz only then I'll definitely entertain it and understand the Jets doing it. If it's for Goff I'll be pissed to high heavens. Of course the Rams won't show there hand until after they make their pick, so if the Jets made this trade before hand it could blow up on them. Just my opinion of course. I want a franchise guy as much a anyone but this may not be the year to trade up big time. Especially if the Rams draft Wentz.

Agree.
The battle to pick first was over Wentz. I know the rumor is the Rams don't know who to pick, bit they would be stupid to not walk away with Wentz.

That leaves the Browns or a trade partner willing to pay a similar Ransom for Goff. I think if you're already at 2 it makes sense for the Browns to pick him, but I don't think he's worth it if you have to give up multiple picks.

For the jets, Goff is not worth the price. I would try to use mo to get Ezekiel or Treadwell. In the top 5-10, then go olb in the first, and Prescott if available in the middle rounds.
And get the notre Dame redshirt kid in the 5th or 6th.
That sets us up with Fitz Prescott and petty this year, and some really good supporting talent. Either we make the playoffs this year, or we break it down and draft high next year and can more easily trade into the 1 for a qb at that point.

I think that strikes a good balance.

The Rams are supposedly interested in Goff. Some sources are as confident as saying "write it down, it's Goff". Now, obviously nobody really knows for sure, and yes, that presents an unknown for any team thinking about moving to #2. I don't think any deal with Cleveland goes down until the Rams have either made their pick, or confirmed who they're taking.

I'm not certain of the actual value that Wilkerson and the #20 pick has in relation to the 2nd pick. My guess is that the Browns will ask for a boatload. But a 26 year stud DE coming off 12 sacks, and in his prime should carry a lot of weight. I don't know if that exact proposal gets it done, but no way the Jets give up three or four draft picks AND Mo to the Browns for #2.

If the Browns think they're getting that, they're high.

If the Rams are truly going to pick Goff then they are stupid. Lets say they do, then no way the Browns don't pick Wentz. If I'm correct, thats who they want anyway. If they do trade out and Wentz is available, then they are stupid also. They just can't think RGIII is the answer without seeing him in game time action yet. Browns will want more then Mo and our #20 for Wentz, Goff also if they are smart. I would say and only if Wentz is there to draft, give up Mo, our #20, Petty and a lower draft pick like forth or worse. Hopefully that does it but probably not. If the Rams pick Wentz then lets just roll with a Petty, Geno and Fitz in a all out brawl for starter and may the best man win.

Sounds like a plan. I can definitely go with this.

of the later round candidates, Hogan is the only one I have some faith in. I see zero NFL material in Prescott. He's years from being a polished passer (if ever). Cook is mystery meat to me. Seems to lack high level decision making in the pocket.

I don't pretend to be an expert, but I love Prescotts potential and his late round price tag. I watched jon gruden break down his film with him, and I really like his attitude and intelligence, and how he springs back when things go wrong. I think he's exactly what you want in a 3rd qb. But honestly who knows which round we go qb.
