Coaching Staff

3-19 was enough for me to know AG was not the coach we needed but what the hell do I know. Now we are 0-2 soon to be 0-6 and its only going to be a matter of time before this HC - who calls out his players in the media - loses this team. At times he is arrogant and condescending exactly the way he was in Miami which tells me he didn't learn a thing during his tenure except to maybe annihilate players and team owner.

Last night's game was a humiliation - straight out of the Kotite era. The offense, with the exception of Bell and to some extent Anderson was awful. Bell deserves better than this, he played his heart out, and this team embarrassed him last night. As a fan, I am yet again embarrassed to be a Jets fan. National TV, and that's our team. That's our offense, from the offensive guru?

I was very angry when Gase was hired. I thought it was a poor decision. But he has carried himself well and you saw signs that he and Darnold were clicking, which is most important. I liked the Gregg Williams hire. That was then - this is now. Right now, Gase looks like he doesn't have a clue. His offense is epically bad. Williams looks like a blowhard. Hey Gregg - Jet fans don't want to hear your bullshit. What we want is to win. Here's a tip - after all of your years of coaching you should know this - if you rile up great players, they will beat you. Stop talking, and start coaching. You can't talk a lick after this game or any other. Do you get what franchise you're coaching for?

We are two games into the season and it's over. We were embarrassed on national TV. The offense is not only unimaginative, it's predictable and just flat out bad. I don't care who the QB is, that was atrocious football. The defense played well, except for Beckham shredding us - which you knew he would do after Williams opened his mouth. He's too good of a player and our CBs are not very good.

There is no bright spot here. This is already a very bad team, and it's going to get worse. You think the Browns are good - wait until we play the Patriots, Eagles and Cowboys - they are going to obliterate this team on both sides of the ball. They are 3 of the very best teams in football, if not the three best. It's going to get much worse.

I'm not sure where this post is leading to be honest - but this coaching staff has already grossly underperformed. This is the offensive guru? This is the defensive guru? It's a not even a joke, it's a cruel joke. After 2 games, the entire team is in disarray. The only bright spot I can find is that Joe Douglas should be a good hire. That downside is, he'll stick with Gase because, well, he's a Gase guy.

I'm not sure what the solution is - but it's the same thing every year. And I'm sick of it.

I was going to start a Thread but you pretty much said everything that I had in my thoughts. I also feel like we are reliving the Kotit era.

I will say, as a long time Jet fan, that I knew if we lost to the Bills week 1, that the season was over. I have been saying that we will be 0-6 all along. If we come out and beat 2 beatable teams at our home and start out 2-0, then this season has a chance. It's hard to get anyone to buy into the system when you are not winning. so this will be Gase's downfall

I don't know who's fault this mess is but let's remember Parcells came in and turned us around over night. so far, we are going backwards from where I'm sitting. I honestly can't see us winning a game all season playing like this. You saw it in preseason. if we didn't sack the QB, he completed the pass and on offense, the O line looks worse than last year with Sam again running for his life. This is on the players and the guy who brought them in, but our coaches now should still be able to put something better on the field then what we've seen so far

I normally don't watch when we lose to the cheetahs so this week won't be any different. But I can't imagine anyone here wanting to watch this next game either. This should be a shutout and very well could be a game where the other team scores every time it was the ball

When we hired Gase, I posed the question, what if the Jets stink this year and Harbaugh is available? I think somebody asked how I could be firing a coach before he has even coached but now this will be the case, only Harbaugh won't be available anyway

just kind of at a lose here and rambling

I can certainly see that. But at what point does the GM that everyone likes get held responsible for the HC that so many dislike?

Remember, it was the HC who hired that GM.
Can't expect anything from that GM after 2 weeks . Especially with the injuries. If anything they buy Gase time. Sadly, I think we're in for alot more ugly football , this season and beyond.

Can we wait until the end of the season before we start firing everyone? I hated the fact that Gase didn’t give Beachum help. On the other hand, I loved the benching of Johnson and Adams (for the last few plays). Last year everyone complained that Adams was too often doing his own thing and that Bowles did not hold him accountable. Now Gase is holding him accountable. For once, I agree with Cimini, who has an article on ESPN about this. Parcels used to do this all the time, with Phil Simms and everyone else.

I won’t trash Gase and his crew just yet but they need to do something quick. They don’t have much to work with. All these injuries have killed this team but that’s no excuse. Every team suffers from injuries and you have to scheme around it. The coaching staff isn’t holding up their end of the bargain and that has to change immediately. Some type of promise needs to be shown this year. They can’t continue to let this season go this bad. The Dolphins have an excuse, right or wrong they are obviously tanking. So their coaching staff gets a pass for this but Gase and his crew doesn’t. This team had plans on winning this year and build for that.

Just to be clear - I'm not giving up on Gase or Williams at this point. What I am certainly saying, is they need to figure out two things and really freaking fast:

1. For Gase - What is this offense going to be, and how are we going to protect the QB? What I saw the second week did not resemble a pro offense. It was amateurish at best.
2. For Williams - he can scheme fine, he's tough, get all that. Stop yapping - Jet fans don't want to hear it. NYers won't tolerate it. If you win a championship, wax poetic all you want. Until then, just keep your mouth shut and coach. This franchise hasn't won anything - that's who you coach for - coach like that. Earn the right to talk trash. It's not given to you.

Unless they figure those things out - this team will be a mess on the field. And off the field stuff affects the on field play. The media here is brutal, they will latch on to anything. You don't think that doesn't wear on players? Figure this stuff out fast and get better, much, much better.
