The Indianapolis Colts hired Brent Jackson and Jamel Mutunga as the inaugural Tony Dungy Diversity Coaching Fellows for the 2022 season.

Jackson will serve as the defensive Dungy Fellow. He has seven years of coaching experience at the collegiate level. Jackson most recently was a graduate assistant working with the defensive backs at Oregon after serving in the same role at Auburn in 2021.

He spent two years at Illinois working with the defensive backs as a defensive analyst and graduate assistant. Jackson coached four seasons at his alma mater, Louisiana, as a defensive analyst and defensive student assistant.

Mutunga will serve as the offensive Dungy Fellow. He has 10 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level. Since 2020, Mutunga has served as the offensive quality control coach at Rutgers working with the running backs. He was the running backs/kickoff return coach at Princeton for three seasons.

Mutunga previously was the running backs coach at Lehigh for three seasons and served as the tight ends/halfbacks coach at Muhlenberg College for two seasons.

He participated in the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship with the Atlanta Falcons and New York Jets. As a player, Mutunga was a running back at Gettysburg.

The Tony Dungy Diversity Coaching Fellowship will afford diverse and talented football coaching candidates the opportunity to gain valuable experience as they progress in their careers.

The program will provide the Colts with access to talented coaches while also fostering and expanding the team’s diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. Qualified candidates are evaluated and interviewed by a selection committee composed of Dungy, the Irsay family, General manager Chris Ballard, coach Frank Reich and other members of the Colts coaching staff and football operations team.
