Veteran wide receiver Andre Johnson is on the way out in Indianapolis.

The Colts have told Johnson that they are releasing him, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. It was reported last week that the decision to cut Johnson had been made.

Johnson signed with the Colts a year ago after spending the first 12 seasons of his career with the Texans. Although Johnson played all 16 games for the Colts, he had a relatively uneventful season, with just 41 catches for 503 yards and four touchdowns.

At age 34, Johnson doesn’t have much left. His agent has said he plans to keep playing, but there may not be many options for him. If Johnson does decide to call it a career, he finishes with 1,053 catches, eighth in NFL history, and 14,100 receiving yards, ninth in NFL history.

I'm not sure how cheap Mac could get him, but if he's unable to draft another WR in April, why not sign AJ for a 1 year deal? I still believe he could probably still be a major weapon in spread formations with guys like Marshall and Decker on the field?

Now Mac wants to get younger and signing AJ does not serve that purpose, but from a strictly one year rental position, it could make sense under the right circumstance.
