Countdown to petty

That is some great stuff on Petty. I just hope he is ready when they finally give him his chance. It could be as early as this week, and if so, I sincerely hope he crushes it. That would be the best news that this organization has had in decades, QB-wise that is.

Idk what it is about this kid but the way he carries himself and the way he plays reminds me of 2 QB's..... Now obviously I am no professional scout but watching him in College they we he played and his athletic ability reminded me of watching Aaron Rodgers. Watching his preparation for the draft, watching his work ethic after being drafted and just seeing how he carries himself in interviews he reminds me of Pennington..... If he can be the QB Pennington was with a stoger Arm... Sign me up.... If he is a poor mans Aaron Rodgers ... Sign me up.....

Agree and I keep thinking about the progress he from OTAS to preseason and he looked competent. I hope he is the real deal,,,

As usual, Cimini misses the point.

Of course Petty is not ready, no young QB who has yet to start an NFL Game is ready for the speed, complexity and physicality of this league, thats something that takes some time to get used too, until then nearly all young QB's will experience growing pains.

Of course there are aberrations, so spare me the mentions of Dan Marino or what have you.

Generally speaking, growing pains is a part of the process in the development of young QB's, its all a matter of when you want to start that process and hopefully put it behind you.

That said, it makes way more sense to let Petty play thru that now, put as much of it behind him as he can now, so it doesn't bleed into next year when we get to start the season with a clean slate. The more games (reps) Petty gets now, in actual NFL Games, the more distance he will hopefully put between himself and the inevitable growing pains.

100% correct.... I would like to see Petty get 6-8 starts this year... Just my opinion.
