Current Draft Order

Ha, Ha. I've been fired before and survived it but in this case I'm not suggesting that we draft him. I'm just saying that he seems to be pretty good, especially his accuracy with the long throws. It's Mason Rudolph and he's down the list somewhere around 7 or 8. Not sure because I haven't checked lately. I don't watch a lot of college football but this time of year I have been trying to size up some of our options. I'm just hoping that our great front office is doing more watching and annalising than I am resulting in smart choices.

I'll try my question one more time, since the first time I got no answers. If all the teams with 5-10 records lose this week, will their relative draft positioning stay the same? Or is it possible for the strength of schedule to change based on who beats them, and thus change the draft positioning? My main interest in this is I have a bet with a Bears fan on which of our teams will draft higher. Right now both teams are 5-10, and both are expected to lose this week. If they do both lose, will the Jets pick ahead of the Bears, or is it possible the Bears will pick first?

Strength of schedule is constantly changing as teams opponents from the season win and loose. There can and will still be movement in the draft order until the season ends.

Yep. But if a post I read on another fan site is accurate, at this point it is impossible for the Bears to win a tie breaker against the Jets. I'm interested in that because I have a bet with a friend who's a Bear fan concerning which of our teams will pick higher in the draft.

I don't know how accurate that is. Having the Browns twice is a blow to their SOS so maybe.
you asked if who beats the 5 win team would change the SOS. It would have the same effect for both teams. Loosing to the winless Browns is no different than loosing to the Patriots. It gives your opponents one more win.

Actually, the Bears only played the Browns once. They are not in the same division. I think what the guy on the other site did was to add up the current SOS of all the current 3-12 teams. His claim that the Bears can't win a tiebreaker against the Jets was based on all possible win/loss combinations of the teams the Jets and Bears have played, and will play. Sounds like a lot of work, but if the guy has an NFL schedule in computer-readable form and knows a little programming, it would not be all that difficult to do. Now doing it by hand, that would be a lot of boring work. I'd guess he did it by computer. In any case, he talked a good game.

Your right, Bears Browns played the last preseason game. I knew I had watched them twice. A real simple way to do it is add the Wins each teams opponents have and compare them. I don't think there have been any ties this season so team whose opponents have more wins will have the harder SOS. Then look at the games to be played minus common opponents and you can reasonably figure the scenarios.
The team to watch is likely San Fran. We're currently tied for 7th and that could come down to a coin toss

Denver is losing by two TD's, if they lose they pick 6th based on SOS, JETS 7, Bears 8

49ers would leap us to if they lose, so we'd fall to 8, but right now the 49ers are winning big.

If everything stands as it is now:

1. Browns
2. Giants
3. Colts
4. Texans (via Cle)
5. Bucs
6. Broncos
7. Jets
8. Bears

Bucs winning as well. SF is not going to lose and even if they do they have a future and a QB.

Bucs are losing 24-20

If they win the Broncos move to 5, we move to 6, Bears and Bucs are close in SOS for 7 and 8

1. Browns
2. Giants
3. Colts
4. Texans (via Cle)
5. Bucs
6. Broncos
7. Jets
8. Bears

Here's how I see it from a QB perspective:

Browns - Rosen
Giants - Jackson
Broncos - Darnold

Jets will be left to reach for Allen or Mayfield, probably Allen for his prototypical size, arm and ceiling, but its a reach and it sucks missing out on the top three.

Typical Jets, had they lost one more game, we'd likely be in a position to draft one of the top three QB's. TYPICAL JETS

And then Rosen pulls an Eli. Also no way Jackson gets drafted in top 10. He is a RB not a QB.

Colts or Texans won't take a QB, so we have to offer one of our two 2nd RD Picks to leap Denver for Lamar Jackson if Rosen and Darnold go 1 and 2

We can't just sit there and let Denver take the #3 QB, we have two 2's, gotta use one of them to leap Denver!

We we are picking sixth behind qb needy teams. Not good but the sixth pick has been good to us lately. If Barkley falls there, we have to go w him otherwise take a pass rusher
