Dalvin Cook signs with Jets 1 year deal

Cook and Breece are identical RBs. literally the one two punch that one comes off the field the game plan does not change.
throw in Mike Carter the all purpose back gives us a trio unlike any trio in the NFL today.
throw in Bam can be that fourth quarter throw into submission reps.
Izzy like Mike Carter can be that all in one back. Izzy speed gives us two RBs for KR.
Hardman should be the PR, with Izzy number 2
Problem with that is they will not keep all these RBs. Whom ever they send to the practice squad will just get signed by another team immediately. M. Carter is likely the odd man out and he is a very good back. They’ll trade him soon enough! Gotta get something for him! That’s a real same because he could be that swing back. The 3rd down version that could have truly helped this team for less money.
I believe the Jets could have made it happen without Cook. Even with Breece needing more time. The young backs that we have are very good as a whole and a RB by committee would have worked. Cook is still an excellent back but we’ll be giving up a younger back that is up and coming and good for Cook who has 2-3 good years left in him. Cook may not even be here in 2-3 years. He’s probably gone next year.

by the time comes to bring Breece to the active roster, do you really think there won't be an open roster spot. Could also hold the cards to trade anyone of them including the new signed RB. Hackett loves Mike Carter and what he brings to the table. Rookie and Bam bring special teams but they will likely use Bam as the third eventually the fourth back out of the backfield.

Hackett loves single TE formations so if we carry four you already know who they are.

Remember this is just a one year deal. I think they really want Cook for the first half of the season, then "if" Breece is at full strength, he will get the lions share of the carries.
I have to say, a two back set with Breece & Cook out there would be something to see LOL. It's tough to say who is on the bubble (Izzy is a rookie and may only see time on ST), Bam from all the camp reports has been the best in camp and killing it (but he didn't look great in the limited touches last game), and MC who has been pretty quiet all camp had a vintage 2021 MC game and looked like he is back.
We have two more preseason games to figure this out, but something is going to be done in the RB room before we start the season.

I see the RB and DL units as overloaded....but the LB and OL units are kinda light. A trade just seems to be the solution at some point - but not direct player for player. I can see a RB and/or DL dealt for pick(s)......and later on in season surrender pick(s) for help. Just a guess.

They can figure out the how and why over the next few pre-season games. Cook gives you insurance on a 1yr deal. I couldn't be happier with it being a one yr deal too. Cook on a 1yr deal works for me. I'm thinking they will keep all 4 backs as well. Especially with Cook being signed for only one yr. That makes all the difference IMO.
