For the second time in three weeks, Jets linebacker Darron Lee has been fined by the NFL for unnecessary roughness - this time $18,231 for his hit on Miami quarterback Jay Cutler last Sunday afternoon.

Lee's infraction came with 10:12 left in the Jets' 20-6 win over the Dolphins at the Meadowlands. After the Jets defense flushed Cutler out of the pocket, he scrambled to his right and threw the ball downfield. As he threw, Lee was still about four yards away from the quarterback, but he still kept coming and threw his shoulder into Cutler anyway, drawing a flag.

Two weeks earlier, in the Jets' opening day loss in Buffalo, Lee was fined $9,115 for a late hit on Bills center Eric Wood, who had tackled Jets cornerback Juston Burris after an interception. That brings his two-game total to $27,346.

And Lee wasn't the only one fined, either. Rookie safety Jamal Adams took his first hit from the NFL when he was slapped with a $9,115 for a taunting penalty he drew on Sunday. Adams' infraction came later in the fourth quarter when Cutler was sacked by Jets cornerback Buster Skrine. Adams came in late and dove in over the top of Cutler (risking a late-hit penalty). When he got up, he stood staring at Cutler, yelling at him and clapping his hands until the flag was finally thrown.

Did not realize you could be find for taunting. Little ridiculous . I mean look at the mouth guards the giants defense wear these days....The entire point is to intimidate, they havent been fined.

Hey - welcome to the Board. Let me or GMF know if you have any questions.

I do agree with you that getting fined for taunting is ridiculous. A lot of things make no sense with Goodell and his rules.
