Lee has clearly been seen now as the odd man out, although I haven't seen any definitive statement on him from Gregg Williams. Now maybe this has been discussed here in some thread, but given the Jets' needs on the outside, and given Lee's speed, why wouldn't it be worth trying him as an OLB? If not every down, then at least as a "designated pass rusher?" He has shown flashes of a good ability to get to the QB when blitzing from the inside, why not try him from the outside instead of looking to get rid of him?

I think the suspension may have sealed his fate.

I’ve said this on many occasions. Lee won’t start over Mosely or Williamson but with his speed and youth, he could be used as a OLB. With him,Jenkins and Luvu rotating as our OLBs that would be pretty formidable. No, none of those guys would be Allen but with the Jets needing oline and WR help just as bad, a trade back haul scenario and playing Lee at the OLB spot could work well.

I don’t think this is far fetched. I’ve wondered about this, too. Sometimes guys play out of their ideal position, and it could be a move that pays off. Lee has shown he can get to the QB.

Personally, I would rather trade Williamson and pair Lee with Mosely. Lee's athleticism and growing ability to be decent in pass defense would help round out our ILB position. Also, when in a 4-3 he would be the weakside OLB.

I would not trade Williamson to keep Lee. I'm not a fan of Lee. The best thing for Lee and the Jets is to trade Lee along with Winters.

Winters is starting. He’s not getting traded because we wouldn’t get anything for him. He’s a decent Guard. We’ll probably keep him and Beach one more year and replace them next off season.
