By far one of my favorite all time Jets that over came so much. Such a sad day to lose such an inspirational person.

Watching him defeat all the odds in '92 after that collision with Scott Mersereau was truly miraculous. He utilized every ounce of his God given strength to be able to walk again.
The week after that KC game in which we went up to Buffalo to face such a tough team with the greats of Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Daryl Talley and that entire squad seemed like an automatic loss.
How the Jets pulled that off with Browning Nagle such summarized what Byrd meant to that locker room to give everything they had to play as hard as they could just for him.

You will be missed and i know one day we will all see you again.

RIP brother!

Seems like odds were against him.

Sometimes fate doesn't give up.
He's in a better place now.

This was heartbreaking news when I saw it. He was one of my favorite players before the injury. The injury itself was devastating. I still remember it vividly.

But what he showed himself to be after the injury is the true mark of a man. He was, and is, a hero to me.

this one sucks. Would loved to have been fly on wall for the speech he gave to the Rex Ryan Jets that beat the 14-2 Pats in playoffs - the "can't wait" game.

My wife made an interesting comment when I told her about him. She said God a better plan for his life... look how he help all those people throughout the years and now he has called him home....

Very sad. The game he got injured was actually one of the only football games I've ever been to in my life. This definitely sucks.
