Thanks Boozer. That's good news. Devin Smith running deep should open some stuff underneath for Fitzpatrick. Hopefully the back can reach him

Saw this comment from him yesterday after practice. If he still feels pain in the ribs, week 2 may still be a bit optimistic. Either way, it does not sound like he will be out long term.

Talked to Devin Smith, said in back of mind he wants to be ready for Cleveland, but is realistic. Still feels pain where he broke his ribs

Good news indeed. Kid is still way behind . Think we'll be seeing him mostly as a field stretcher this year, but that will still help some

We will need to run the ball down the Colts throat. Their defense is complete shit!!

Agree.

From what I've seen in the pre-season the Jets aren't going to be "bombs away" spread offense. They are going to be a smash mouth, between the tackles, ground and pound.

Probably the best way to go

He was originally expected to be back after the bye. I read and article this morning that said his ribs were still sore, so he wouldn't be playing this week, but Perhaps week two, for what ever that is worth

I just don't see the kid being a game-changer right out of the gate, so I'd rather him take the time to be fully healed . . .

understood.. but so long as he's not risking further injury i think you play the kid as soon as he feels the pain is tolerable..

I agree with the idea of not putting him at risk week 1. I don't think he'll be a game changer this year, he's just to far behind right now, and the coaches teaching really slows down when camp ends. They are working on game plans.

What he will bring, as Owusu will also, is a deep threat that teams will have to pay attention to. The Jets will be pounding it between the tackles most weeks. As they did last year, D's will be packing the box to stop it. if they can get Smith or Owusu open deep a few times for big gainers, teams will have to pull people out of the box, which will help the power running game, and Marshall, and Decker underneath.

Anyone know Owusu's 40 times compared to Devin??

Nevermind Owusu ran a 4.36 which was the same as Stephen Hill. Lets hope he isn't the same piece of garbage. And Devin ran like a 4.47. I think Owusu can handle the speed part as long as he can avoid concussions.

Not to jump the gun, but IMO Owusu has already done more than enough to prove he's not Stephen Hill 2.0.

I really think he's a keeper if we can keep him on the field . . .

I agree and I probably jinxed him by mentioning him with Hill.
