This old couch potato wasn't disappointed by the New York Jets' performance this year. Going from league doormat to 7-10 wasn't exactly a stellar performance, but it was a good start toward better days. The old saying about a journey beginning with a single step's correct. One can end, though, depending upon what second step's taken.
What I did find disappointing was that Mr. Christopher Streveler wasn't activated and used as the QB in the final game. Mr. Flacco's a known. The Jets QB situation could be less murky given two hopefuls: Messrs White and Streveler. That would at least permit some available money to be spent on shoring up the offensive front 5 and perhaps finding some pass receivers who played catch as youngsters. The big lesson to be learned this year is that a QB is only as good as the team around him and the ability of the play caller to make best use of the entire unit's strengths.
And leave the Jets defensive squad alone. If they don't have to be on the field for 50 of the 60 minutes of a game, they'll do just fine.
The off-season will be interesting.
