Did Macc get outmaneuvered in this draft?

I do & most people don't know this but G & a few others on here but I love to joke around because this is football not life or death. I hope most know that if I say stuff like smoking or drinking I am joking. Some may not so I need to watch it LOL

That being said I agree there needs to be respect here. It is no fun being attacked all the time by some. My feelings are if you don't like someone or what they said take a chill pill or PM them. This is not pointing you out but anyone on here that goes after someone. I also fight back too! but on here I must behave LOL

So everyone have fun with respect!

I hear you, lol. You making a comment to me about, "I want what your drinking" isn't a problem for me because I am a less then casual drinking and I love Heineken. But for someone to go the smoking route, that's not going to cut it for me from anyone. Besides, it appeared to me that you were joking but he wasn't with the smoking comment. So I handled it as I felt necessary. Plain and simple! Good and lighthearted humor with people you don't know is all good on this sight and in life of course but there's a feel there when it goes to far and I guess that depends on the person your commenting to.

I'm not saying that... I was responding to a post and stated the Jets were high on these kids even tho around the web and league had them rated lower... Read it the way you want but I never said that the Jets scouts didn't do their jobs...

As for the picks used at that time the Jets were noted in conversation trying to trade back knowing they would more than likely be able to get their guys a few picks back while trying to acquire additional picks...

They had more prospects they wanted to draft and didn't have enough picks to do it with... But sometimes things work out without acquiring those additional picks as they were able to sign a couple via drafts/free agency...

Trading a future pick to acquire a guy they wanted shows you they have value on certain prospects that others don't see it that way...

one thing i think i've noticed under macc is that we almost always go down to the last minute on our picks. IIRC, i believe last year with the williams pick we ran the clock down. seems to me that macc is always investigating trade scenarios before getting his pick in.

i don't doubt that macc may have been trying to acquire more picks

I would not trust big mac as far as I could throw him. He still needs time......

I'm not endorsing Macc as a great All time GM. Your right he needs to prove himself. I do think he is a pretty straight talking guy. Not counting post draft smoke, I think he is generally honest when he explains why he did something.

Our good friend Rich Cimini got 2 things right this draft from his sources.1) the Jets didn't like Lynch at all and wouldn't take him even if he was on the board. i was actually surprised when they passed on him for Lee.

2) That several people in the building, including Macc, were in love with Hackenberg, and had him rated very high. I was also very surprised where they took him.

As far as PFF goes, from an analytical stand point, yeah you have to trash him. His numbers have been very bad for 2 years.

I feel positive Macc had him as BAP, or very close to it when he took him. A lot of other people had a 3-4th round grade on him. The question isn't if Hack will ever be a good QB. The question here is was he close to the top of the Jets board when they took him, or did they intentionally reach for him knowing other better players were on the board.

IMO that premises is absurd unless Macc has a death wish

All I am saying is that for me he needs to show me more & I still don't trust him That is not saying he is bad or a liar I just need to see more.

Todd Bowles was a master at creating exotic and aggressive blitz packages while serving as defensive coordinator with the Arizona Cardinals, and few players in the 2016 draft offer more creativity than first-round pick Darron Lee, a heat-seeking missile. The Jets followed with third rounder Jordan Jenkins, who was more productive than top 10 pick Leonard Floyd at Georgia. Of course, the selection everyone is going to talk about is quarterback Christian Hackenberg, whose technique faltered once Bill O'Brien left Penn State for the Houston Texans but possesses the size, arm strength and grit to ultimately rise past Geno Smith and Bryce Petty (and Ryan Fitzpatrick?) to be the Jets' starting quarterback -- though not necessarily in 2016. Of New York's third day selections, offensive tackle Brandon Shell (the nephew of Hall of Famer Art Shell) offers the length and physicality worthy of developing.
Grade: B+

For the record he gave NE a c- The Fish a B- and the Bills a B.

We can do this all day. You dig up a negative 3 year pre-mature draft grade, and I'll find a 3 year pre-mature positive draft grade. Sounds like great fun.

Or maybe I'll just go fishing

I'm a bit confused here. Does this mean that you over heard them discussing this?

It is funny I grew up two blocks away from an NFL Commissioner next door to a baseball GM & I am very good friends with a another baseball GM/president that lived next door. Plus a Yankee manager lived 1/2 mile away from me at one time. I even worked for the Yankees for one day. LOL. My family belonged to the same club as an NFL Owner & the WFL Owner that may become president. I just hope some of it sunk in LOL

I'm not smoking anything and as long as you don't insinuate that I am, I won't insinuate that you snorting or shooting up anything. You don't know me and I don't know you, so let's leave it at that. BTW, I never said you didn't like the draft and frankly don't care if you do or don't but make bullshit comments about the way I feel about the draft and I won't make any bullshit comments about back at you!

There seems to be some huge misunderstanding here. I made zero comments about the way you feel about the draft. All I did was to make a little joking comment, to a different poster, suggesting drinking may not have been what was going on. If that little remark is what made you explode, you are WAY too sensitive.

No, no he didn't.
He was short on picks from turning a 5th and 7th into Brandon Marshall and Fitz, and a historic offensive year.
We didn't have much to trade, and needed many bodies. Nobody wanted mo for the value we put on him.

Roll with the punches pick up some talent and move on.

I'm not overly concerned with trading next year's 4,because of the comp picks. We essentially got next year's body, this year.
