so yeah, the "will petty make the final 53" is now a foregone conclusion & i'm officially excited about what this kid brings to the table..

i believe he won being #2 on the depth chart last night..

bowles chose not to give petty any 2nd team reps (i guess to continue to play out this farce of trying to build up smith's bag of rocks trade value) & i'm OK with that if petty has already won the backup spot..

My thoughts are that Bowles needs to end this charade, NOW, because its unfair to Petty to make him play behind a collection of OL's who will be on the street in two weeks, guys who can't pass block and create a pocket to save their lives.

The fact that Petty is excelling despite this massive disadvantage is to his credit, but he deserves an opportunity to play with some real NFL OL's moving forward. That will only happen if Bowles ends the charade and names Petty the backup.

There's also the possibility that continuing to play Petty behind these clowns will get him hurt.

Bag of rocks trade value??? LOL That's a good one.

But seriously I believe you are correct. What is truly unbelievable about the way Petty has risen is that he is playing BETTER with 3's than Geno is with 2's. Now granted, Geno's play is not very high standard to exceed, but with where Petty has come to, from where he started, this is really a feat worth mentioning.

And yes this excites me to no end. I truly believe that cutting Geno is not only great for the locker room, but it is also addition by subtraction. The players would be a much more harmonious bunch without Geno around. It would serve the players a lesson worth taking note of, if you do stupid things like get in fights in the locker room? You will get cut, even if it isn't immediately.

TB & Macc like to keep us guessing on what they may do, but after a dominate performance regardless the competition, Bryce Petty has entered the conversation of being the backup and possibly future of the team... Not knocking on Christian Hackenberg but he has a long ways to reinvent his career... As good as Petty looked last night, the opposite could be said for Geno Smith... Botched snap, under thrown passes, intentional grounding penalty and the nail in the coffin interception...

For ego sake the team knows that Geno Smith is a kid playing a man's game... Geno is the type of emotional wreck and the team knows if they name Bryce Petty in competition or the new backup that Geno will get worse than he currently is... Have to believe the Jets are hoping for the best but realize that the worst is about to hit the fan, when Geno realizes the fans and the team know that Petty has passed Geno on the depth chart...

Bowells won't admit it until the end, but Petty is the #2. IMO Bowles is still trying to get that bag of rocks for smth. Think that ship has sailed. smith's on field performance, coupled with his off-field sulking has left him with out value.

I think the Jets should just start giving Petty all the 2nd team reps, and hack the 3's. Keep smith on the roster until the end, just in case some disaster strikes during camp.

But the reps should go to the future QB's
