A Youtuber was trying to make the case that tanking for draft picks never works and he pointed at the 49ers acquiring Brock Purdy as justification. In fact Purdy is an example of what happens if you never have a high draft pick, he is just good enough to keep you in the middle of the pack but not good enough to get you over the hump.
