I know of only 1 NY guy who is still a SF Giants fan because of his loyalties to the origins of the team that played in the polo grounds. He is a dying breed...

We fans, especially those who remember Shea, will hold that NY JETS banner high even though they "technically" now play a few miles away in another state which happens to be in the BIG shadow of NYC...

Who knows maybe someday we will also become a dying breed if they pull up and move across the country to Cali... But for right now NOBODY who is a true NY JETS fan would ever approve of the name change over just a few miles, if it's even that much...

With that said, I respect Hyatt's opinion on this as he is "technically" correct.

HYATT™ doesn't HAVE a New York bias, because he doesn't live or belong to it and never has.
Nothing will ever change that, anymore than HYATT™ expecting a pack of urban rats to appreciate the vast outdoors of Northern Wisconsin - where he was raised and it can be 7 MILES between roads.

HYATT™ will cut a deal with y'all.
You stop nagging HYATT™ about using NJJ and he'll stop trying to convince y'all it is the PROPER name for a team that has played the majority of it's life in East Rutherford, New Jersey, is governed by New Jersey state laws, and is completely removed from ANY governmental influence or input by the state and city of New York.

Do we have a deal?

how about this deal...you stop trolling the new york jets board and the new york jets fans trying to push your NJJ crap and we will stop bothering you about it.

almost every poster here with a few exceptions is a new york jets fan first and foremost. you have always been a welcome guest to our boards, but you are not a jets fan. you are a packers fan first and foremost. maybe you can keep that in mind about how much it bothers new york jets fans when you continue to push the NJJ stuff.

the jets are our team. we are new york jets fan. you are a green bay packers fan who seems to have an affinity for the jets. and that's fine. you add a lot of value to the boards. but maybe you can recognize that you piss a lot of people, new york jets fans, off when you continue to push the NJJ stuff and try to convince new york jets fans that our team should be called something else.

so how about we cut this deal...you stop pushing the NJJ stuff, we will stop fighting you on it.

deal?

Hyatt ... SOJ has been a fan for 48 years and the name of the team he roots for is NEW YORK JETS, As far as he knows the team name hasn't been changed in those 48 years? Has it?

SOJ also wants you to know he appreciates your posts - sometimes - and would like to give you a geo lesson ....the NY Metro-area consist of Northern NJ so irrespective of your contrived dribble about where they play and what laws govern the team... the last SOJ heard, the team name was and is NEW YORK JETS.

If you do not like referring to them by their corporate brand name then do yourself and us a favor and as Hobson said don't post. Its that simple.

By the way, the Jets organization refers to themselves as the 'New York Jets'.
It's in their web address, and is also mentioned multiple times throughout the website.

www.newyorkjets.com

So, that is their official name, the name of their company and likely the name they are incorporated under.

If someone has a problem with it, they ought to take it up with Jets management.

As far as some guy from out of town who roots for another team talking about what the name of my team ought to be, I have this to say:

Why do you even care?

Getting back on topic... Yer DAM RIGHT I BELIEVE!

I believe that we will compete at a high level. I believe we will have a fun D to watch which will resemble what Rex rolled out in delivering a crushing blow to Houston in his debut, first game, as HC. Bowles should make the entire season that fun to watch with the talent and depth assembled by Mac...

I believe I'm unsure of our QB situation but I'm pretty sure it can't be any worse then what Sanchez did in 09 in almost getting us to the promised land...

So, all in all I believe this will be a season to remember!

I can appreciate wanting to get back on topic but its being kind of mean really to Mr. ™ since our resident cheesehead was soaking up all that attention he was getting about his grammar school geography grasp at shit stirring

Yup. Still surprised that I took the bait the other day. I usually try to avoid those type of pointless discussions.

I think the NJJ is understandable, but misguided. Hobson hit the nail on the head when he said it was the greater NY area...meaning city of NY.

We don't split hairs over the Irving Cowboys, or the Davie Dolphins, because they are in the surrounding burbs of Dallas & Miami, respectively...but in the same state. By that logic, the NYJ are perfectly fine calling themselves as such.

If HYATT wanted to be technically correct using the same logic, he'd call them the East Rutherford Jets. However, since he hasn't gone to the trouble of splitting hairs of the Boys, Fins, or the Orchard Park Bills for that matter, I think we should just let us be known as the NY J-E-T-S, JETS JETS JETS.

I just call it East Rutherford, NY, it really solves this problem.

BTW, I think New York and New Jersey should combine forces and become one super state called "New York."

Of course, no offense intended! I love New Jersey! I didn't go, but my best friend and my brother are both Rutgers guys so I spent lots of time in New Brunswick/Somerset. I think New Jersey is so much nicer than its reputation, that "Jersey stinks" rumors might have actually been purposefully spread by New Jersey people just to keep New Yorkers out!
